Why does visual voice keep saying "visual voicemail is currently unavailable". It happens when I am home or out doors. Restarting the phone help for a while then it happens again. Frustrating ! Can anyone help?

If you're having this problem and your Cellular Data is ON (like with me), all I had to do was turn off Cellular Data and then turn it back on!
Excellent!!! This solved my problem. I forgot that I turned off "Cellular" when I was troubleshooting my piece of **** wi-fi connection.
Visual Voicemail is a carrier feature. It's possible that you’re simply out of range, thus rendering the visual voicemail feature completely inaccessible.

The exact same thing happened to me. After I turned cellular data back on and restarted my iPhone the voicemail worked properly -- at least for now.
Turn Airplane mode On, and off. I fixes the problen. Did not help? Go to Setting-->General--> all the way down, tap on Reset--> Reset Network Settings.
It sure fixes it.
I had the same problem and just did a hard reboot by pushing the home button and power button simultaneously. Whenthe phone came back on all was well.

Hope I don't have to do this every time or reboot the phone just to get rid of the visual mail icon.

It sure fixes it.
I had to turn off the cellular data, do a hard reboot and then turn back on the cellular to get it to work...
Thanks this fixed mind too. My iPhone 5c started doing this when I set the password for voicemail. I have not updated the software yet.
