iPod Sport Kit Volume levels

I've read the instructions a couple of times and gone through the Nano settings and can't seem to find out how to adjust the Spoken Feedback voice levels. When running I listen to music through Shure sound isolating earphones. At a reasonable sound level (med-hi) when the Feedback occurs, it's super loud. It's so jarring, that I'd consider returning it, if it's not adjustable.
Is this voice level at a standard level or can it be adjusted?

Hello all,

Same thing happened to me today. Very frustrating. This is what I think happens - when the voice feedback engages, the iPod automatically lowers the volume of the music as the voice is speaking. Then the volume is supposed to come back up.

What I think happens is that the music volume gets stuck at the reduced level... then in order to hear the music we have to crank the master volume all the way up, and the voice feedback becomes super loud. The reset trick worked for me - all my music on my iPod - including music played without a workout - was artificially quiet until I did the reset.

I noticed this seems to happen if I do something before the Nike+ voice finishes its sentence. If I always let it finish its sentence before I press or do anything, then all seems to be fine.

But if I click an option while Nike+ is still talking, then I hear multiple sentences spoken simultaneously, and from that point on, the music is less than half the volume, until I reset the nano.

I've only had this happen once, but I didn't know the reset keys until I got home, so the rest of my run had to be without the Nike+ feature turned on (in order to avoid her blasting my ears).

Hopefully they will get this quirk worked out soon...

Yup thats when it hit me. I wanted to pause the song playing to start when I started the workout. Thats when all the volume went crazy. I reset it and it is fine now. Menu plus center button until the apple came up on screen. Good to go and the volume is perfect.

I'll add myself to the list of folks with volume trouble. I noticed problems when I used my nano in my car with my stereo adapter. Volume was very low, but a reset (hold menu plus center button) fixed all problems, including relatively loud spoken feedback. It's been a week or so, and the problems haven't come back.

Same problem here (I found this forum searching for an answer). Everything was fine for a few days, and then for my 4th run, I found the music volume was very low and the Nike+ voiceover was unbearably loud. I confirmed "sound check" and "volume limiter" to no avail. Playing songs regularly without the nike kit worked fine.

I noticed after reading this thread that the volume no longer lowers when the voiceover comes on, so I think one of the users above correctly pinpointed the error.

The hard reset (menu + center) worked like a charm, and the volumes are now correct again. I'm sure this problem will surface again - hopefully there'll be a fix soon.

Amen on the music. I've resorted to just doing the "Basic Workout" which doesn't provide any feedback (unless you hit the center button). I can get all the feedback I need from looking at the display. (SOL if you've got the Nike armband; I just carry the nano in one hand.) If you prefer the more structured workouts, you could also set the voice to off. I haven't tested that approach to see if it eliminates the volume problem, but it seems like it ought to.
