I have added some songs on iTunes on my MacBook Pro, and I'm trying to sync it with my iPhone. Also, got the message an OS upgrade is available. When I tried it said this: "Updating to iOS 7.0.4 requires at least 610 MB of free space on your iPhone. Please change your media sync options to make more storage available." How do I do that?

"deleting stuff" doesn't answer the question "how do i change media sync options in my iPhone?"

The Recommended Answer needs to be updated. The Q was asked in 2013. It is now nearly 2017. I have 10.1 OS and trying to update to 10.2 - VIA iTUNES. Got the media sync options message for more storage.
The RA doesn't apply as 10.1 does not have options across the top.
I think another answer linking to this Sync your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iTunes on your computer using USB - Apple Support will work. However, I tried updating from the iPhone directly and it works (not adjustment to media sync options)!! So, I'll go back to iTunes once I fully finished and see what the link does for future updates.
I think the media sync options message for 10.2 is bogus because I backup to the iCloud. I checked the settings per the link, and none were checked. The Info setting confirmed that I BU to the iC And the update needed 610, and I had 1500 or so
It worked for me after going to general>storage and deleting the iOS 10.3 upgrade.

There are purchased items on the phone... you should transfer these to your iTunes library. I don't know how can you help
I unsync everything and now I get Iphone will not sync! Unkown error (-54)

What if I don't have any items checked. It does not assist me to delete anything if It doesn't exist.
