Trying feather beta, or changing Safari's user agent to IE9 via the Develop menu.

Firefox is free of this problem, but Chrome is not in my case.

Hope that Firefox user agent can help too, somehow IE9 agent feels wrong to use on OSX 🙂

It just means that for the one tab you make the change in, Safari sends a different 'identifier' to any website.

In this case, it makes youtube send different code,w hich actually works (or does for now).

None that I saw; but on different sites... it's possible. It doesn't affect the way Safari runs though, just prompts some sites to send different code or content.

And googling IE9 I see it's an acronym for Internet Explorer.

Safari is my browser of choice and sometimes I have to switch to Firefox to view spreadsheets.

At least there's a workaround for now for the YouTube issue.

SOLUTION!!!

Just got off phone with Apple care tech support and arrived at a solution without having to upgrade to Maverick.

Download Google Chrome. YouTube still works with that browser. Keep Chrome icon in dock and just remember to use it when you wish to open YouTube pages.

Not as convenient as having Safari open but it's better than the drastic move of Maverick upgrade.

I managed to fix the issue with the following:

Safari > Preferences > Advanced

- and enabled "Show Develop menu in menu bar"

In the "Develop" tab

- enabled "Enable WebGL"

- restarted computer

in the same time I have updated to Mac OS X 10.9.3

Not sure which action fixed the issue but now its working fine.

I just did what you wrote and my Safari is working correctly,thank you very much for your advise

This still sometimes happens to me. What helps is: CMD-ALT-E (Empty caches. You may have to enable Developer preference for this, I'm not sure).

If that alone doesn't fix it, go to Safari's Preferences (CMD-,) / Privacy tab / click the [Details…] button. You now see a list of cookies. Type 'youtube' in the search marquee and hit enter. A few youtube cookies are shown. Select them and click [remove] or delete or whatever it's called in English.

Close the panel again and reload the page. I have to do this every two months or so. The only downside is that you have to login to youtube again.
