Safari Browser won't refresh on iPhone

I am using safari on an iPhone 5S. I am trying to look at a web site that changed within the last 12 hours. The safari browser still shows the old web site. I click on the refresh icon next to the url, but it won't load the new version of the web site.

I go to the same website on my laptop and my wife's iPhone 5S. In both cases, I get the new version of the site.

HELP!!!!

The web page may also have a mobile site that has not been updated. When smartphone browsers request website data, the browser sends information to the server which interprets the device and sends what it believes it needs. For many of the mobile browsers, this is a special mobile version of the web site. This could be the case here, and the mobile version has not been updated.

Alright. If it is displaying correctly on your wife's phone but not yours, it is not a Safari bug, it is something specific to your device.

I understand your frustration, but using all caps to highlight something is not necessary. That is considered rude and yelling. I'm trying to help here. Also, I would consider it far from serious, just irritating.

If the settings on your device mirror those on your wife's, then I would say if deleting cookies didn't help, then the next step would be a reset. Hold the sleep/wake and home buttons together until you see the Apple logo and then release. The phone will reboot. If that does not do it, the next step is a restore. You can restore from a backup first. Backup your phone, sync it via iTunes, then click on the restore from backup button. After that is done, see if that helps. If not, the last troubleshooting step is restore as new, or not from a backup. This will put a fresh install of iOS on the device, and without adding anything else, test the website. See if this corrects your issue. If it does, then try loading the backup onto the device again. If it will no longer work, then there is something corrupt in your backup that is causing this.

If you don't think that displaying obsolete data without warning and failing to update the browser when you click on the refresh icon is not a serious bug, then you and I are on completely different wavelengths.

I use my phone for business, not as a toy. I need acurate, up to date information, or if there is a network connection or another problem, an indication that the data is not up to date. Your attitude that this is not important is inexplicable.

Furthermore, suggesting that I wipe my phone and reinstall iOS, as a solution to the browser not refreshing a web page is crazy. What would be more helpful is suggesting how I can get someone at Apple to look at fixing the problem.

If there is a problem with the Safari browser on that one particular phone, the only way to repair that installation of Safari on the browser is to do as I said, wipe the phone and reinstall iOS, since Safari is a native iOS app and comes as part of iOS. You have the option to make an appointment at the Genius Bar at the Apple store to have the device looked at. I suggest you make a backup of the phone before you go, as they will suggest that you do as I said, reinstall the iOS. If you do not want to take it to the Apple store to be looked at and just want to make Apple aware of your issue, you can use the feedback page www.apple.com/feedback and click on the appropriate link. They will not, however, answer you. They use that strictly for one way feedback, and Apple does not provide email support.

I doubt highly that this bug is limited to the Safari browser that is part of iOS 7 on my particular phone. I suspect that it is a general problem with Safari in dealing with refreshing web site pages that are implimented using Frames. The fact that my wife's iPhone shows the current web site page most likely is due to the fact that she never visited the site before it was updated, rather than that there is any difference in the software on her phone.

The best way to do that is to book an appointment at your nearest Genius Bar - the advice and diagnosis are free even if out of warranty. That way an Apple employee would see the problem and either be able to fix it or send it up the chain of command to the appropriate department.

That did NOT fix the problem. Still getting the old page!!!!!

NOTE: The website I am looking at uses Frames. I suspect that there is a safari bug preventing it from refreshing frame data.

If clearing the cache on the iPhone didn't resolve the issue that might suggest that data is being cached somewhere upstream of the iPhone, perhaps at the ISP or mobile provider depending on which method you are using to connect.

It's a phone problem. My wife's phone is getting the new site while she is sitting next to me, regardless of whether we are connected via WI-FI or T-Mobile cellular.

Reinstall IOS, it's simple and is a first step to take.

I am switching to the Apple ecosystem because I'm tired of the flakey Windows environment. Reinstalling the OS to force the web browser to refresh an updated web page makes my past Microsoft experiences look like a cakewalk. You've got to be kidding that this is a realistic solution to this problem......

What happens the next time this web site is updated? How will I even know it happened???? This is a BUG that needs to get fixed ASAP.
