Safari Browser won't refresh on iPhone

I am using safari on an iPhone 5S. I am trying to look at a web site that changed within the last 12 hours. The safari browser still shows the old web site. I click on the refresh icon next to the url, but it won't load the new version of the web site.

I go to the same website on my laptop and my wife's iPhone 5S. In both cases, I get the new version of the site.

HELP!!!!

I went to the Naples FL genius bar today. They verified that the Safari browser on iOS7 (both iPhone and iPAD) has a bug and will not refresh a frame based web site. Safari on a MAC works correctly.

They have escalated the problem. It will be interesting to see if this gets fixed. Note: Clearing Safari History in Settings will cause the browser to refresh.

Maybe you should re-read this thread and figure out exactly what the problem is. Just sending you the URL to this site won't prove anything. You'll be looking at the site for the 1st time and it will look OK.

It's only after you have visited the site with your iOS device AND the site has been changed by the webmaster, that you will be able to see that the safari browser in your iOS device fails to refresh the page properly. We tried this with multiple iOS devices at the Genius Bar and every device we tried had the problem. Why would your phone (or my wif'e's) be any different?

How could every device have the problem if they have not visited the site. I'm really trying to understand you and the problem, but you have contradicted yourself a couple of times here. If you were to provide the URL, what would prevent anyone from testing as you did at the Apple store? Do you see what I'm saying? Otherwise there would be no way to prove your theory with devices that have never visited the site as you claim.

The issue is not with this particular site. The problem is that the iOS7 Safari browser apparently does not properly refresh ANY frame based web site. That's a BIG issue since there is no indication to the user that he/she is potentially looking at outdated data.

Obviously this will only happen to a user after they have visited a particular site at least 2 times.

I can provide you the URL, which would permit you to look at the site. However you wouldn't see the problem untill after the site is updated, which won't necessarily happen unless you are working with the webmaster during the testing process.

Can you please explain how you were able to do this testing then? This is what I was referring to in my post, not necessarily the site you originally described. I understand how web traffic works. What were you able to visit to verify that all iOS 7 devices display this bug?

If you're in touch with the webmaster of the site that is of interest can they not tweak the HTTP expires data to ensure that "current" data is always supplied after a relatively short interval, or alternatively confirm that Safari isn't honoring the times that are set?

Have you tried an alternate browser such as Chrome or Atomic Lite to see if the problem also exists there? If not that would give you a workaround.

I am the webmaster of the frames based site that was not working. While I was at the Genius bar we modified the site to verify that the various devices were not refreshing. We tested a couple of iPhone 5Ss, an iPAD, a MAC, and my Windows 7 laptop using both firefox and IE. The MAC Safari browser and the Windows 7 browsers worked fine. Safari, on all of the iOS devices that we tested (iPhones and iPAD), did not refresh the page after it was changed.
