Nice, this worked for me, thanks!
Got a clean sync now.

Wow! I've been struggling with this issue for months and Apple hasn't been any help. leefoo23's tip fixed it for me! Thanks so much.
Thanks iClint. That worked for me.
Turning on iCloud Photos Beta solved this problem for me... Good Luck
Okay, what am I doing wrong? Option+Command at launch just closes the application folder and launches iPhoto as usual?
Neal, you shall launch iPhoto and immediately when launch starts, then press Command+Option. Let me know how it went.
Problem started with OS X 10.3 : my Aperture photos do no longer sync with iPhone nor iPad (both iOS 8.3), process runs forever and nothing happens.
Checked and rebuilt Aperture database, regenerated previews, deleted the iPod Photo cache from Aperture package, no change.
Syncing any folder containing images works though, but not Aperture. Noticed that each time the iPod Photo Cache folder is regenerated and contains only a Photo Database Unix file 696 bytes big.
The Apple TV Photo Cache has refilled (used to be also 696 bytes)
Any clue before I turn to Apple Care ???
I updated to 10.10.3 including the latest Photos app. I opened Photos and converted my library. I then decided I didn't like it and continue to use iPhoto. That worked fine until it came time to sync my iPhone. The sync would stick at syncing photos and not finish, even overnight. I tried restoring the phone but that did not help. Then I found this thread. I tried 2 things at the same time and now sync is working.
1. I rebuilt the iPhoto database as suggested by iClint_.
2. I opened the iPhoto Library (right click and "show Package contents") and deleted everything, especially "iPod Photo Cache", with the word cache in it, as suggested by leefoo23.
PS - sync of photos works with "Include videos" checked !
I didn't find any iPod photo cache, but after I checked Include videos, my iPad finally completed a sync.
The problem (stuck on importing photos) reappeared. I haven't tried either "fix" again yet.
This morning, my iPhone 6 did not hang up at importing photos. (I have Include videos checked.)
But I did see other weirdness. First, my iPhone disappeared from the iTunes device list. This is a separate issue, but one that keep recurring.
I plugged the iPhone in and after a while got a message that my hard drive could not be copied because it timed out. Wha?
I quit and restarted iTunes, then found that Photos had been selected instead of Aperture. I switched back, selected the albums I wanted synced made sure Include videos was checked, and then the sync proceeded without incident.
Rebuild iPhoto database was sufficient by itself to fix the problem for me. However the fix is only temporary, good for 1 sync then the problem reappears.
So simple yet it worked! Thank you!!!
Tried this on iphone 6 with Maverick OS and it worked a treat
I'm still seeing the problem of iTunes getting stuck on Importing Photos.
I had no iPod Photo Cache nor anything similar to that.
The last time, I quit iTunes. Then I restarted and unchecked sync photos and then rechecked it.
There's still something wacky going on and I think it has to do with Photos changing the iPhoto/Aperture database.
Has anyone seen the problem when syncing from Photos?
Has anyone seen the problem if they never imported to Photos?
