Removing the iPod Photo Cache as detailed by leefoo23 worked for me. I searched and removed all files labeled iPod Photo Cache.
I have the exact same problem. I rebuild the database, remove the cache, restart everything and it will just sync one time before I have to do it all over again.
Are there any other suggestions to try?
WORKED! Control-click on the iphoto library, see contents, and throw away that ipod photo cache. Empty trash. Resync. Voila! Thanks everybody.
Checking "Include Videos" unstuck my sync as well.
@leefoo23 and @Fred_E_L - We each need to file a radar with Apple on this.
This is totally an iTunes bug and they need to know about it. The more they hear about it, the more likely they will correct it.
...and thanks for the tip/workaround! It worked great!
The only thing that works for me is to make sure Aperture is quit before syncing. There seems to be an intermittent issue with the Aperture Library (from which I sync a set of photos).
I was about to give up with all the things I had tried until I realized that I had deleted the wrong iPod photo cache - an old one in my pictures directory and not the correct one that is with the current location of my iPhoto library. When I followed napa-web's instructions, lee-foo's solution ended up working for me.
Thanks!
Hopefully this will help someone. I have the same problem except I have an iPhone 6s, all updated software and no iPod Photo Cache anywhere to be found on my computer. I have no idea how this happened but I must have deleted the option to have a cache which I think is possible.
The posts to try holding down command-option, then opening iPhoto worked for me. I tried fixing permissions, repairing database... all the options ands finally "rebuilding database" worked for me. It took longer but it did unstick "stuck on importing".
You can do this on the command line, or in the Finder.
And, that's all.
