Can't clear iCloud notification badges in iPhoto?

I too have had this same problem. iPhoto icon in the dock has a badge notification indicating something new (a photo/comment/like) but going into the app finding the stream that has new content (denoted by the blue icon) and looking through it doesn't clear the badge notification. Once in the stream, no photos have the blue icon next to them.
I too suspect that this happens when the image was opened on another device rather than firstly on the Macbook.

I have had this same problem, on my iMac. I checked my Macbook air and it didn't have any notifications so i thought you might be on to something with the other device theory.

My problem was solved by doing the following ;

1. Go to preferences in iPhoto, select iCloud settings and uncheck the photo sharing box

You should then see a screen like this

Once the repair process has ran its course, turn photo sharing back on and all your streams and shared albums will be back in view, without the annoying blue dot (and the even more annoying red one on the iPhoto dock icon)

I do not share any photo streams or participate in any, but this happened to me too. I believe it happened when some random person erroneously invited my @me.com account to their photo stream, then realized the mistake and unshared it with me (I presume, because I did see a notification for the invitation, but never saw the photo stream).

I think this is a bug in the edge case where somebody invites you then un-invites you before you get a chance to look at the photos (and thereby clear the notification flag). I see no way to clear the flags otherwise.

Same issue here. I ended up going into my Notifications system preferences pane and removing the "Badge" permission for the Photos app. It's not useful if it's not accurate.

This just happened to me as well. I doubled clicked the photo icon and chose the "remove it from my dock" option, and then slid it back onto the dock from my launch pad. Notification was gone!
