Rolling back to 11.1.0 worked well for me. For a couple of days. When starting my computer I got a message from iTunes about accepting license terms (I did not start any installation). I had to accept and that was that, nothing more happened. Except that the sync stopped working!!!!!

Now I back to 1995: Outlook on PC and printed calender sheets.

I will re-install 11.1.0 to see if it works.

And I will investigate other synch solutions, I think HyperOffice has a solution.

iTunes *****!!!!

Restoring the old itunes also didn't work for me (though it was funny to see the old splash screen). Note if you decide to try this that you'll need to pull out a compatible older version of your itunes library (should be in your Music folder, C:\Users\YOURNAME\Music\iTunes\Previous iTunes Libraries). Once you've run itunes 11.3, it changes the format of the library so that 11.1 can't read it anymore.

Update: Finally got things to work, with no workarounds with IPhone 4s, ITunes 11.3.1, IOS 7.1.2, Outlook 2013, Win 8.1 (64bit) 🙂

I think the issue in my case was that I had attempted to import my Outlook data files from my old machine by copying them over, and telling outlook to use them for mail and calendar/etc. That created 2 calendars in Outlook: 1 (the default) was associated with my email address, and I think is automatically set up by outlook when you create your account (mine is a POP3 account), the second was associated with the old file I had copied over. Itunes was syncing flawlessly with the default calendar, but I kept looking for the changes on my old calendar. I ended up deleting the old calendar in Outlook (File/Account settings/Data files). The only thing I lost was the existing color coding, but the functionality of color coding categories is still there.

I also followed other posts and made sure I only have 2 addins activated in Outlook: Itunes addin, and Outlook Change Notifier. (in Outlook: File/Options/Addins)

Solution: If you have more than one calendar in your Outlook account, check to see if Itunes is syncing to the default calendar, and that you have the right addins activated in Outlook.

This was a long winding path for me, so it may be hard to replicate for you. Basically, I installed the latest version of Itunes (with Outlook closed), launched Outlook and changed the calendar data file and addins, and sync just worked.

As far as I can tell, none of the issues were with Itunes, they were all with Outlook. And there appears to be no conspiracy among the big bad giants, which is a relief.

Try this : sync everything with icloud, except calendar to be sync with itunes (wifi or usb).

I have an IMAP primary email account. Start by enabling iCloud and activate CONTACTS and NOTES if you want, BUT NOT CALENDAR.

(iCloud does a nice job sync'ing contacts.)

In itunes, enable sync of calendar, select all calendars.

Now, if you create new contacts on any Outlook or Iphone they will appear on both systems instantneously. Ensure you have iphone contact set to have new contacts created on icloud, not on phone.

If you create event, on any system, and then sync your iphone with itunes, event will appear on both. The only pain is to sync with itunes, but since it can be done WIFI, its a nice turnaround I think.

Works A1 for me, I became with this solution all by myself after playing with folders, pst files, icloud, and even 3rd parties softs.

Tasks are also sync correctly if you select them. The only item not working is Calendars.

Calendar side panel is now working and showing all elements as soon as itunes does the sync. Contacts are iCloud and instantaneous.

This is the best solution I've found so far, there should be a patch to allow iCloud to be selected as default calendar in Outlook 2013 but now this option don't work, and is not turnaroundable.

I have a Windows Vista 32-bit machine with Outlook 2007 and iTunes 11.2.2.3 which syncs calendar, contacts, and notes to my iPhone 5s without any issues.

I'm upgrading to a Win 8.1 64-bit machine and trying to figure out the least painful approach....

From reading this thread, perhaps the least painful would be to install 32-bit version of Outlook 2010,

current version of iTunes (unchecking the auto-update box),

then make sure no extra add-ons are installed in Outlook and give it a go?

Suggestions appreciated! 😕

I´ve surrended! And I´m a winner!

Never managed to get iTunes to work.

Instead I installed CompanionLink for Outlook on my PC. After two minutes I had my Outlook calender in Google Calender.

I then installed Sunrise calender on my iPhone. After two more minutes Sunrise had synced with Google.

So now I have a perfect sync from Outlook to Google to iPhone/Sunrise.

And suddenly I can acces my calender from my iPad without any problem (web).

So no more iTunes problems.

No more iTunes what so ever.

It would be good to get an explicit statement from Apple as to whether USB sync between Outlook and iOS is still supported.

People are making all sorts of fuss about the what iPhone 6 may bring - sapphire displays, larger size, rounder corners, and wireless charging. I couldn't care less about any of those things.

What I care about is whether Outlook USB syncing will work. Using iCloud for syncing is a very kludgy workaround as I detailed at http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/ca3191f4-2c1e-4b52-a563-177877a 89ee8/is-outlook-icloud-syncing-hopelessly-kludgy?forum=outlook

Apple is completely misunderstanding the situation if it thinks I'm going to choose my next phone according to factors like sapphire display and wireless charging. I'm going to choose based on syncing with Outlook.

Apple's neglect of the Outlook syncing issue may be a classic illustration of how great companies die. They do a great job on the wrong issues and ignore what the customer actually cares about. Becoming excellent but irrelevant doesn't do good things for a company's market valuation.

I imagine that the Windows phone should handle syncing with Outlook well, though I haven't looked into this in enough detail to be sure there isn't some annoying catch to doing so.

I haven't looked into the Android option either. But I did mention the iOs - Outlook syncing problem to a senior executive at Google, and he said that Google is well aware of the situation. I urged him to make sure that Android didn't have the same problem, but I didn't ask for details about the current Android - Outlook situation.

I keep hoping that the iOs - Outlook problem will get fixed. I don't know how much of this can be fixed by Apple alone and how much can be fixed by Microsoft alone. I imagine that no one at either company will see cross-platform compatibility as a promising path to career advancement without a clear push for compatibility from senior leadership. Microsoft's leader Satya Nadella has spoken clearly about a commitment to cross-platform interoperability. I don't know whether Apple's CEO Tim Cook has. And I don't know if either has followed through on implementation of interoperability.

Will this problem get fixed or will the world get balkanized into Android/Gmail people, iOS/MacOS people, and Windows phone/Outlook people? If this happens, I'm switching to Windows phone.

Market share for smartphones in 2014 is estimated to be Android 80%, iOS 15%, Windows phone 3.5% and BlackBerry 1%, according to http://bgr.com/2014/05/28/ios-vs-android-vs-windows-phone/

My advice to Apple is to take this problem seriously. The market share of Windows phone is projected to double in 4 years, and Apple should keep in mind that it is no longer inconceivable that iOS could become an also-ran, repeating the history of MacOS.

Thanks for the follow up! It seems I will also join the Windows phone/Outlook people. What confounds me is that I have been successfully performing USB sync since the release of the original iPhone, now all of a sudden nothing. My guess, an iTunes (horrible program) update did me in. So might be time to move on as I did when I went from Palm to Apple.....hmmmm, and just where is the Palm OS today?! I agree, Apple should take note.
