Bluetooth pairing with Tivoli radio

I recently bought a new iPad air that can't seem to connect to my Tivoli Audio radio. We have an iPad mini that pairs just fine, as do both of our MacBook Airs. I've tried forgetting the pair, turning off and on both devices but nothing works. Any help would be appreciated.

The update restored my 5S's ability to connect to BT. Before the update I could not connect to BT at all using I OS 7 and 7.1. Now I can connect every time, but have to manually do so through BT Settings on my iPhone. Not an elegant BT implementation, but at least I no longer consider the Model One BT a mistake.

Thanks. If more fiddling around doesn't improve things, I'll probably do what you did.

I drive lots of rental cars with built-in BT. All of them have no trouble pairing with my iPhone 5S, and I am sure that all of them have been paired with many other iPhones, MP3 players, and other BT devices. Multiple pairing really should not be a problem for Tivoli.

I *really* like Tivoli products: they are simple to use, and have great sound and great style. However, Tivoli's BT implementation needs more work. For now, a $10 Belkin BT/audio adapter is doing the the trick for me.

I have decided to return mine to Tivoli, as they suggested. They make it easy, with an emailed UPS label, etc.

Interestingly, while I thought I was sending it in for evaluation and repair (software/firmware update?), their paperwork indicates they are going to replace mine. Apparently a decision they made based on the serial number I sent in.

My take on this is that Tivoli has been using an obsolescent version of Bluetooth (2.1, came out in about 2007), and the world (including Apple) has moved on to Bluetooth 4.0. iPhone works with my car flawlessly. Also interesting that Tivoli charges about $100 more for the Bluetooth version, which isn't fully compatible with latest devices, while you are doing it for about $10. I, too, am disappointed because I like Tivoli products.

I'll report back when my Tivoli returns.

I got mine back from Tivoli today, just under a two week turnaround. It's still the same one, so they must have done some kind of a software update.

It's working much better, and is acceptable now. I was able to alternate connecting an iPhone 5 and iPad Air without the previous pairing hassle. So far my experience is identical with iponesam's March 31 posting, above. Now I can connect every time, but have to manually do so through BT Settings on my iPhone. This isn't exactly what I thought "autoconnect" meant, but at least I don't have to go through the finicky pairing of each device each time.

I bought my Tivoli through an Amazon supplier, not directly from Tivoli Audio. While it's never good to have to return something before it works well, I will say TA's willingness to expedite a return shipment and fix the problem, even though they didn't sell me the radio, is a very responsible way to handle this problem.

If yours is causing problems, I suggest contacting Tivoli by phone or email and work out a fix and return with them.

On my iPhone 5, I had the same problem. I was unable to have a Bluetooth connection bbetween my iPhone 5 and my Tivoli model one radio. To fix that, I went in the Bluetooth settings and select the "i" and then "forget this device" or however it is said (my OS is in French) and pair it again when it becomes available. This worked fine for me, hope it can help.

Be aware that if another device is still bluetooth connected to your Tivoli you can't connect another one. This can cause a problem if, for example, you forgot that your iPad was left connected yesterday and you just forgot about it and try to connect with your iPhone today.
