Why does my FaceTime keep saying it's connecting, then fail?

I always FaceTime friends and family on my MacBook Pro, but recently it has been failing, both when sending and recieving calls. It says connecting, and then it fails; occasionally it says reconnecting and then fails after. I went to the Apple store recently, and all it needed was an update and it was working great. Less than a week later, it's back on that same routine.. HELP?!

p.s. I have checked for updates, and it is all updated.

Same thing here. I've been using Facetime without problems (mostly) for a few years. The sound would drop out for no reason from time to time but it basically worked. Now (since sometime in Dec 2013) I can not connect at all, "connection failed" everytime. It happens on my iPad, my MacPro (Mavericks) with a usb camera and a Macbook Pro (Mavericks). None of them work. I've had to go back to iMessages (or iChat) using AIM for video chat (which does work although not as clear as Facetime was).

I don't get it. Very frustrating.

P.S. I've used Macs since 1989. I like it when things just work!!!

Ditto! I can't believe this is happening to so many people! My daughter is away at college in the UK (I'm in NC, USA) and we can't facetime anymore. Started about 5 days ago. She said no one in her study center (over 100 people) are able to facetime. I was looking online to see if I needed to reset my factime and found that I'm not the only one. I think it's more than a few people having issues. Apple needs to get on this!!!!! I'm going out of the country for 2 weeks and I need to be able to factime my family while I am gone. Please Apple Fix this problem!

Same here. My daughter tried repeatedly yesterday to call here to faceTime with her little two year old sister...can't connect. I tried connecting back to her....nothing. Tried thru both the iMac and thru the iPad and iPhone...all mobile devices running ios7. Says "connecting" but it never connects....then times out.

ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEAS? Apple...how about you?

my problem as well,i turned my FaceTime off couple of days ago and just had it on again today, and when my boyfriend called,it did ring actually, then kept saying connecting then finally? failed! that was weird as this was the first time things like this happened to me. we tried so many times to call each other,i made calls from on both of my devices,my phone and Mac to some of my friends but none of them ever worked. my devices are all up-to-date so there wouldn't have been any problem with the updates. hope that Apple got this problem and could have it fixed asap.
