I would consider holding off doing anything until Apple releases the next Logic and/or operating system update. It IS NOT necessarily the fault of the device you own. It's not wise to spend money unnecessarily until the confusion is cleared up.

I actually have Alesis minimonitors that have a class compliant 16 bit interface on board (Texas Instruments chip), so I'll try those out (I've only used/tested that briefly it when I got them, some time ago). My 'main' IF is a Roland, with drivers. But, my class compliant MIDI keyboards both work. And there do not appear to be much (any?) class compliant MIDI devices that suffer this issue.

OK, just gave it the first try (selected "USB Audio Codec" as my input device, new project, one audio track). Logic crashed! 😮

Tried a few times now, crashes consistently on reinitializing core audio.

Ok, so I'm *totally* shooting in the dark here, but had an idea that I thought might be worth a try. I don't have a USB audio device to test this, so can't verify if this will be any help at all, but anyway...

1. Using the Audio Midi Setup app (built in to OSX) create an aggregate device with only the USB device in question.

2. Choose that as the audio device in Logic Preferences

Any luck?

Whether it works or not, I like your thinking Bryan!

Okay, so I rolled back on my main comp. and everything works with my Alesis i02 Express. Unfortunately I wanted to work with a laptop upon which I had installed Logic already at 10.0.5.

I have not upgraded to Mavericks as a matter of information.

I've also been able to make use of remote features, being able to run Logic 10.0.5 on my main comp from my lap. Not quite the bees knees (more than a bit slow) but any port in a storm ey ?

Hey Apple ! Anyone out there ? Any info yet as to when I can expect things to run normally ?

I love to love Apple, please stop making it so hard :-)
