Mavericks WebDav service problem

Hello,

Yesterday I bought the Server extensions for Mavericks 10.9.1 and since I am trying to make the Webdav service get to work.
I set up a new folder share in File Sharing (switched on), and started up the Websites service.
I tried to test different methods of connecting to the share but couldn't make it work:

machine: "mymac"
webdav share: "webdavshare"

from Finder "Connect to server"...

http://mymac

http://mymac.local
https://mymac
https://mymac.local

http://mymac/webdav

http://mymac.local/webdav
https://mymac/webdav
https://mymac.local/webdav

http://mymac/webdav/webdavshare

http://mymac.local/webdav/webdavshare
https://mymac/webdav/webdavshare
https://mymac.local/webdav/webdavshare

http://mymac/webdavshare

http://mymac.local/webdavshare
https://mymac/webdavshare
https://mymac.local/webdavshare

I also tried with the ip address instead of the host name but ...nothing.

Finder asks for username and password and then stays a long time thinking before giving up to unsuccess.

I also tried from a webdav enabled app from an iPad and got the same result.

Is there something I am missing when configuring webdav on Mavericks server and trying to connect? I couldn't find much documentation about this service around.

Thanks in advance.

No answers...yet. Nobody uses webdav service on Mavericks server? Really?

Guess I have to ask how do I get my money back then, since I bought the server extensions from the Mac Store a few days ago just for webdav sharing, and it is not working. Or can I get some sort of support from Apple other than asking here since I just bought the software?

Yesterday's 3.0.2 update doesn't seem to solve anything about it, given I did the same tests as above.

I didn't have any problems enabling WebDAV.

My server configuration is Mavericks Server 10.9.2

In the Server Application:

Serivces: File Sharing is enabled.

I added the folder I wish to share in the File Sharing Shared Folders. Once added, I edit the Folder properties and selected Share over WebDAV. In my case I only wanted a single User to have Read/Write, but the typical Unix permissions could be adjusted for the folder.

Services: Websites is enabled

Standard port 80 and 443 are enabled.

I have an external domain name and an internal .local address available ton access the server.

https://myserver.local/WebDAV/

https://externaldomain.us/WebDAV/

both worked straight away.

This may not solve your problem but it maybe of interest to note.

I have had issues with WebDav not working with my iPad and iPhone. I run Pages and Numbers from both.

I'm running a Mavericks Server in a .local install. I was able to get WebDav working with other apps such as Omnifocus and Goodreader. And I was able to upload with Pages and Numbers.

On Mavericks server I have File Sharing enabled. I tried this setup both with Open Directory enabled and not configured. So Open Directory does bot seem to be a factor.

I created a user 'test'. 'test' home folder is "Local Only"

Under File Sharing I created a new Shared Folder by pressing '+' button. I located the folder in which ever directory it came up with. I called the folder 'webdavstorage'

Next I edited the access privileges on'webdavstorage' . you can add the user 'test' here and make it Read & Write. Enabling Read & Write on Staff(primary group) seems to do the same.

using my iPad and Goodreader I can connect using the address of http://10.0.1.61/webdav/webdavstorage . Of course the IP address wil vary as to what your server is using.

With Goodreader I can connect, upload and download from 'webdavstorage'. I kept a finer window open of 'webdavstorage' and could see the files beeing uploaded from Goodreader. This part is important because it is innteresting what Pages and Numbers does during an upload.

Next with my iPad I launched Pages. I tried logging into http://10.0.1.61/webdav/webdavstorage and was successful. But I could see no files. Next I uploaded a Pages document from my iPad to 'webdavestorage'. In the process Pages asks you to select which file format when uploading. I selected the 'Pages' format. It proceeds to upload the file but converts it to a name.pages.zip file. Why it zips it I don'r know. If you have the 'webdavstorage' window open in finder you'll see the file being added. You can unzip the file and it will show a name.pages file. I tried with my ipad to log back in and see either the .zip file or the .pages file. neither is dispplayed.

But you can log in and see it with Goodreader. It will show a name.pages.zip file and a name.pages folder. Why it displays as a folder icon I don't know. But with Goodreader you can tell it to open the file with Pages.

I would not call this a work around. But maybe it will help other more brighter minds as to what is going on.
