seems totally ridiculous that it is so difficult to find how to simply play a whole album without having to click this and that and create frigging playlists and up next type nonsense....I bought a mac because they were supposed to be easy to use....like ****!
Ok, I just found a solution in another thread. You need to go to Preferences > General, and uncheck the "Show list checkboxes" option. Then playing albums works as expected. Pretty unintuitive, but at least there's a fix.
I do get the logic behind this, but still think it's a mistake, for a few reasons. The idea is that if you have the checkboxes feature turned on, then you use checkboxes to make iTunes ignore unchecked songs unless you explicitly ask to play them. So clicking play on an album with no checked songs doesn't do anything. There are a few problems with this though.
As mentioned down this thread, make sure you haven't unchecked the songs from the album to prevent them from syncing with your devices. Having them unchecked will also prevent them from automatically playing when right-clicking an album and choosing "Play".
The problem is that, YES, unchecking the "show List Checkboxes" allowed me to play an entire album. But I happened to plug my iphone into my iMac right after and it said that it could not be synched because it was like 12 GB short on space. ***? So, it was trying to download all my music to my phone. I have the setting checked which says to "Only synch checked songs". But I guess when you no longer have "show list checkboxes" checked, it no longer respects the checks and tries to download all your music to your phone. *** Apple??? It just should not be so hard. I'm writing this on 5/2/16 and when I right-click on an album, and then click on PLAY, the stupid thing should PLAY, and it does not.
make sure the blue icon don't look like this click it until it's not blue.
Mr. Jobs would not be impressed. Since he moved on, things seem to be becoming a bit too complicated.

I completely agree with you. I've returned to Apple Music after a spell away and and I'm again faced with this problem. The original "Uncheck" solution is no longer a solution.
