You can try to download it at the link below.

El Capitan

Once you have that installed, you can go to the App Store, download Sierra, and install it.

Check to make sure your applications are compatible. PowerPC applications are no longer supported after 10.6.

macOS Sierra 10.12: Compatible Apps

Also check to make sure there is a compatible driver for your printer.

Do a backup before installing, preferable 2 backups on 2 different drives.

Thank you. I have some other questions about your reply. You say I need to upgrade to Sierra, do you refer to another version of Sierra than the El Capitan? Couldn´t El Capitan be enough to upgrade Safari? and the other one is about what is needed for an installation or upgrade on Mac OSs, I have not much experience on installing or reinstalling operating systems on Mac and I don´t know if it is needed to reinstall all the applications after installing or upgrading the Mac OS, that makes me think carefully the odds and evens. After all I think it would be great to upgrade, but this needs a plan. Thanks for your advice

Upgrading to El Capitan will give you the newest version of Safari.

Upgrading is simple, but occasionally oops happen, which is why I suggest having 2 separate backups. Look at my 6 Nov post and use the links to check your applications compatibility. Then check your printer manufacturer's website to make sure there is a driver that is compatible with 10.11 or 10.12. Once that is done, use the El Capitan link to download the installer. When the download is complete, the installer will open and guide you through the steps to start the installation. At the very beginning of the installation, you may have to respond with some inputs, but once the installation gets going, you can walk away from the computer. Installation time varies. When the installation is done, the computer will reboot. Depending on your System Preferences settings, you may be required to log in. You may get an iCloud setup screen, which can be bypassed if you don't have your Apple ID/password available.

All your applications should be there after the installation. No need to reinstall.
