my iphone will not trust my computer, what should i do
After Apple's 10 or so suggestions, including complicated mscongif and regedit approachs, all failed... I found this, easy enough to follow solution that actually worked. in a single user's post in the forums here somewhere. Can't find it again to say thanks to whoever it was, which prompted me to post it everywhere so everyone else can find it:
(Note: this is for Windows 8, but the solution for other versions is similar - you might need to try a few other folders, but are still looking for "Apple Device" under "Device Manager".)
Click okay and everything should suddenly work fine again. (I can't remember if I had to choose "trust" again, but if I did, I only had to do it the once and everything was fixed after that).
Thank you! Thank you!! Thank you!!!
Yes! I knew I didn't have to reinstall everything!! Thanks Heath for the research and repost!
Mate, you are a genius and life saver.
Heath.J's method really worked. This problem was bugging the **** out of me. Now when I connect my iPod touch to my computer while it's locked, I don't have to unlock it and click on that annoying alert again. It does it automatically. Thanks.
I always solve a problem when I come to this site.
I guess I was wrong. The **** alert asking me to trust or don't trust my computer came back again when I connected my iPod touch to my computer today. How will this **** thing permanently go away
Heath solved the problem for the Windows World - now can somebody solve the problem for the Apple to Apple world? For the first time I tried to download phots so I connected our Ipad Air to my MacBookPro. I opened Iphotos and got a message to '...tap "Trust" on "Butterfly" now.' I looked at the Ipad and there was no message to "Trust" or "Don't Trust" my computer as shown in the screen shot at "http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5868".
Somwhere in the help desk there was mention of opening Application>Image Capture.app so I did that earlier this morning and I saw the Ipdad there. In the Bottom part of the screen I had a drop down menu for what application to automatically open when I connected "Butterfly", so I selected Iphoto.app. I then tried everything again with no success - still no "Trust" or "Don't Trust" message. And now with the Ipad Air connected, the ImageCapture.app is showing blank with the message no Camera or Scanner connected, and nothing in the bottom left so I can try changin the default program.
Any "Heaths" out there for the Apple world?
warmly,
Bryn (Currently in Bali and trying to save photos!_
I had exactly the same issue and this worked a treat... Thanks Heath.J
🙂
Well, and what's about Mac?? I cannot reinstall iTunes and so all advices are ineffective.
Stupid Iphone cannot remember my MacBook even you type "Trust" one million times! And iTunes cannot see it.
It's funny, that WindowsOS is able to connect, but MacOs isn't.
omg heath thank you so much. this is a really helpful tips, i've been looking for a solution since ages ahahah THANK YOU!!!!
I had this problem where my iPad would not trust my computer and would not sync. The solution I found was to reinstall iTunes and then suddenly everything worked perfectly.
Problem: Trust loop
Solution: Reinstall iTunes
Hopefully drfeelgood2014 has not been waiting 15 months for you to answer this. While your suggestion might work for some people the answer from Heath.J is more helpful for Windows 8 users.
thanks.
had some trust issues with my iphone.
works fine now...
Thank you so much! This is the only thing that worked for me 🙂
thank you! this helped a lot!
YAYY!! IT WORKED!! You were more helpful than apple support. Thank you so much bro
