I used 1234 as recommended by another user. I didn’t recall ever setting a PIN for restrictions and now it seems it was set during an up date. I would suggest before resetting phone try the default 1234. Work for me

The default password is not 1234 that just locked me out of my passcode for an hour.
There is no default passcode. The passcode is one that was set by someone, either you or someone else.

Well, then it's a good thing you came to this thread where the solution to that has been given at least half a dozen times. All you have to do is read the thread you posted in.
How would you expect a fellow user to know your passcode ? If you can't remember what you set it to, restore to a backup if was taken when the code wasn't on the iPad, or reset the device back to factory defaults if you don't have such a backup (after copying off anything that you want to keep)
If you can't remember what you set it to be (why would you expect a fellow user to know it ?) restore to a backup if it was taken when the code wasn't on the iPad, or reset the device back to factory defaults if you don't have such a backup (after copying off anything that you want to keep)
thanks fromwhiteplains!!!!
its incredibly useful to be able to adjust time and guess your passcodes back to back.
got it on the 10th try - was an old passcode that I had used several years ago.
just rolling the clock forward by 1:01 after each attempt and then you can map out a guessing strategy on all your old passcodes and/or factory presets and try them quickly. don't have to mess around at all with backups and secret codes
As above : restore to a backup if it was taken when the code wasn't on the device, or reset the device back to factory defaults if you don't have such a backup (after copying off anything that you want to keep)
You remember it.
If you can't remember it restore to a backup if it was taken when the code wasn't on the device, or reset the device back to factory defaults if you don't have such a backup (after copying off anything that you want to keep)
We are fellow users, we won't know what you set it to. If you can't remember what you set it to restore to a backup if it was taken when the code wasn't on the iPad, or reset the iPad back to factory defaults if you don't have such a backup (after copying off anything that you want to keep)
Reading earlier posts in the sthread I learned that, like most people, I have not forgotten the passcode, because I never set it up in the first place. It seems to be a common side effect of installing a new operating system. That is why all these people are asking this question at the same time - coinciding with a new glorious system update release.
Where is the file? I have searched everywhere and there is no Macintosh HD folder or file anywhere on my 2009 computer. I have backed up my iPhone 5 to it, but I can't find this Macinstosh HD folder or adoption.plist file anywhere.
I can't "synch" my iPhone to iTunes because the PHONE won't allow it! I hate this! Lost all morning messing with this crap.
And "1234" as the Restriction PW does NOT work either folks in case you think it will!
I'm a retired IBM'er who switched from OS/2 to WIndows because of MS Update issues so then I switched to Apple. But now I HATE Apple security Updates too because they caused this problem on my phone. They are just as bad as Windows and they don't tell you what's done and if there are issues how to fix them. Might have to go back to my flip phone as I'm not liking this at all now.
What worked for me was a piece of free software that someone created to overcome this issue, way back in this thread. I copied the link in a previous answer but Apple deleted it. And yes, they are becoming just like Microsoft.
Just curious , I was told at att that when I sync my iTunes back on the phone after resetting to factory that code will go back on it. Is this correct? When I backup to iTunes that code is part of the info that will download to iTunes therefore when putting everything back on my phone that is also going to be there
If it was on the phone when the iTunes backup was taken it will be included in the backup, so if you restore to the backup it will put it back on the phone - you would either need to restore to a backup that was taken when you didn't have the code on the phone, or not restore to an iTunes backup
If you have a backup taken when it wasn't on the phone restore to that backup ; if you don't have such a backup reset the phone back to factory defaults to remove it (after copying off anything that you want to keep)
If you have a backup taken when it wasn't on the device restore to that backup ; if you don't have such a backup reset the device back to factory defaults to remove it (after copying off anything that you want to keep)
