I used 1234 as recommended by another user. I didn’t recall ever setting a PIN for restrictions and now it seems it was set during an up date. I would suggest before resetting phone try the default 1234. Work for me

thanks fromwhiteplains!!!!

its incredibly useful to be able to adjust time and guess your passcodes back to back.

got it on the 10th try - was an old passcode that I had used several years ago.

just rolling the clock forward by 1:01 after each attempt and then you can map out a guessing strategy on all your old passcodes and/or factory presets and try them quickly. don't have to mess around at all with backups and secret codes

Reading earlier posts in the sthread I learned that, like most people, I have not forgotten the passcode, because I never set it up in the first place. It seems to be a common side effect of installing a new operating system. That is why all these people are asking this question at the same time - coinciding with a new glorious system update release.

Where is the file? I have searched everywhere and there is no Macintosh HD folder or file anywhere on my 2009 computer. I have backed up my iPhone 5 to it, but I can't find this Macinstosh HD folder or adoption.plist file anywhere.

I can't "synch" my iPhone to iTunes because the PHONE won't allow it! I hate this! Lost all morning messing with this crap.

And "1234" as the Restriction PW does NOT work either folks in case you think it will!

I'm a retired IBM'er who switched from OS/2 to WIndows because of MS Update issues so then I switched to Apple. But now I HATE Apple security Updates too because they caused this problem on my phone. They are just as bad as Windows and they don't tell you what's done and if there are issues how to fix them. Might have to go back to my flip phone as I'm not liking this at all now.

If you know your iCloud password, disable find my iPhone option on your phone, then go to reset option, select erase and reset option and follow the prompts.

Another option, login to your iCloud account from another device, select find my iphone, then select erase my phone.

Remember once you erased all information, while restarting it will give you option to login to iCloud account and merge with your previous backup. Good side is, you get all the data you backedup, but it will also update your setting with the previous restriction password which negates all your effort.

So be careful with this, don't opt to merge with previous backup. If you have valuble data which you want to keep, use third party software like iMazing for backup, thus previous setting will not be updated automatically.

By chance if you don't remember your iCloud password, go to the nearest apple store with proof of purchase and talk to the manager, they would be able to reset the phone for you.

Hope this helps!
