Facetime etc. sound alerts/notifications. iPad ios 7.

I have been unable to get sound notification when a Face Time, Message call or Mail comes in.

In Notification Center under "Include" for apps Messages and Face Time shows only Badges and Aerts, no sound indicator.on the this page, Mail shows nothing at all here .

In selecting each app indivually:Under "Alerts Style", "Alerts" is selected, Badge App Icon slider is on, the sounds have been set on each app and it does show the selected sounds name under "Alert Sound" on each app. Show in Notif Center is on as is Show on Lock Screen, Show Preview is on as is Show alerts from contacts"...

Under "Sounds": Ringtone is set, Text Tone is set, New Mail is set and the particular sound name that was selected for each shows under the "Alert Sound" but no sound is mentionned on the main "Notifications" page. The sounds themselves did play when selecting them.

I don't know if this mention on the Notifications main page is important or not but it is very inconsistant with at least one other app I use (Free Talk) with shows all 3 items on the Notification Center "Include" section .

What am I missing??? I am going around in circles trying to get the sound notifications set up and functioning. Any help would be much appreciated!!!

TIA

June

Thanks for the reply, I did as suggested and re-booted but that did not change any mention of sound on the Notification page under each app but.... I don't know if this important or not or if it is any valid indication of my problem.

I will wait until I receive a Face Time call later this PM and see if I now get any sound Notification, Without it, this is a real PITA by missing calls,

Thank you for your suggestion. (I did learn how to force a re-boot!!)

'Fraid not!!! The apps themselves work fine, it is only the sound Notification of incoming call that is the problem.

I find the information in Options is not very informative as to what each option does or does not do . I would like to know whether I should click or not BEFORE clicking it (ie: the big picture) to assist me in choosing the right option for me.

Thanks for the help so far.

FIXED!!!!!! The combination of Side Switch itself to OFF and setting the option to Locking Rotation solved the mystery

https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4155326

but... add this to to above discussion. After changing the Side switch option to "Lock Rotation" from "Mute" I found that the switch itself was in the On position (Orange dot showing) and it was so right out of the box. As I want the display to rotate as needed, I turned it off. I don't remember what the original (default) Setting option was.

The connection between "Mute" of notification sounds only, Screen " Locking Rotation" and that Side switch is not very obvious, at least to me... Even the written User Guide glosses over this relationship.

Thank you for the help
