using iCloud with iPod nano

I have both an iPod nano & an iPod shuffle, but can't seem to be able to access iCloud with either one of them. What am I missing? I don't have any other Apple products. Any help would be appreciated.

Neither the Nano nor the Shuffle have WiFi capabilities so they cannot access iCloud.

So iCloud is not a service to back up songs on iTunes?

No, if the songs were purchased from the iTunes Store they can be downloaded from the Store at no cost if you lose them. If the songs were ones you ripped then back them up to an external hard drive.
