Viber desktop making clicking noise

Hello,

I have a Macbook Pro early 2011 15 inch. There are times when my macbook is using Viber it makes clicking sounds ONLY when sending or receiving messages. I've never heard these clicking noises when using other programs. My macbook also has an SSD, so i don't know if this is related to the macbook clicking noise with HDD's. Any ideas on what's going on?

Thanks.

Just got a reply from Viber:

Hello Mike,

The sound you are hearing when you send or receive messages is an issue that Apple computers are known to have when they wake up from sleep mode. Unfortunately, until Apple corrects this issue, we are not able to offer a guaranteed solution.

That sounds very much like vendor cop-out.

What 'known issue' are you referring to, is there a report, a reference number, is there anything to support your vague and unsupported allegation.

And why is your app the only one affected by this 'known issue with Apple computers'

That is the reply I would send to Viber.

Hi Team, Amie,

This is an issue with Viber only as there is something happening using the Apps, it has nothing to see with sleeping mode. Can you provide the preliminary investigation as I'd like to know about this technical issue. Awaiting for a patch to correct the sound issue. Thanks!

For the users having an issue with the sound after using VIber, feel free to run Youtube or iTunes or any other apps/website that use the sound, it will resolve the problem in most cases.

UPDATE

I had to uninstall Viber as while watching TV from my Mac using a numeric cable for the sound, it was flickering on my TV like it was on my mac. I have then put the apps in the trash, then emptied it.

I have restarted my MacBook Pro via Safe mode then restarted my mac through normal process. I checked the cable with an other Mac and also on my iPhone, no prob with the sound of my TV using the numeric cable.

I have re-installed Viber, it seems that it's working fine now, I'll update again if there is an issue with the sound.

Same problem, Viber killed my speakers every time I open it to read a new message.
I found a bad workaround that "fixed" the problem on my Mac. I hope it will help someone else. Basically, I just deactivated notifications for messages. I have the pop-up, but no sounds. At least I don't have to open iTunes, Spotify, or play Sound effects from OSX settings after everytime I use Viber.
