Dell U2713HM not connecting to Mac Mini via displayport to mini displayport cable.

Hey guys,

I have a Mac Mini late 2012 model. I'm trying to get the full 2560x1440 resolution from Dell UltraSharp U2713HM display working, and am hopelessly failing.

I'm only able to obtain a max of 1920x1080 resolution by using using the DVI-D from the Dell into the HDMI to DVI adapted that came with the box.

All other posts with this issue state to use a Displayport to Mini displayport cable which I've also tried, but the Dell shows a "No Displayport Cable" message on screen. The only way I'm able to get the display working is with the DVI-D method. Help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Thanks, John. I think you're right. Your comment may be helpful, I'm trying to locate the button to switch the active socket. I see only power on/off button and noting else, even on the back. Will see again now.

The buttons will be there but are well disguised on the latest Dell model monitors. They are now more touch sensitive buttons rather than older style push buttons. Trying running your finder down the right-hand side.

Hi,

I have a pair of Dell 2414h Monitors and i tried to connect a Blackmagic Design Ultrastudio mini monitor device. This didn't work because i found that the device wasn't just working, Before then, my 2 monitors were fully active in a dual screen configuration. After my attempt with the external device, i decided to go back to my dual screen arrangement, only to find that one of the screens wasn't working. It was just a black screen saying No Display Cable detected!

After trying everything like rebooting my Mac, switching off the monitor from the power button, switching cables, I just decided to to switch off the monitor by yanking the power cable from the monitor while it was still switched on. Removed the display port cable, plugged the power cable back into the monitor and then reconnected the display port cable and what do you know? The monitor came back on like magic!!!!!!

I hope this works out for you or anyone else with this problem.

Good Luck!

Hi,

i tried several different solutions to this problem, with no luck. Also tired to unplug power, but apparently i did not wait long enough before i replugged power connection.

So after fiddling around with different solutions for about an hour or so, i tried to disconnected power plug for about 30 seconds before i reconnected again - boom, now the display is working again.

Hope this helps!
