logic 9.1.8 wan't run in 32 bit mode under maverick...someone can help me?

hi everybody.

i use logic 9.1.8 normally and perfectly under osx 10.6.8.

today i just update to osx mavericks 10.9.1 ( using an external HD with a carbon copy of my last setup to be safe just in case ) but now the problem is that i can't run no more Logic in 32 bit mode.

I can see and select the option " run in 32 bit mode" in the app info like before in snow leopard, but now when i run logic in 32 bit mode the program run only in 64 bit...

i tryed to reset pram and to fix privileges but with no success.

i see here and there that someone have not this issue under mavericks, and i can't find an official position about it.

any advice?

thanks.

update 2: i batchmoded the applications folder and i waited for 3 hours and half before close batchmode.

Things are a little bit better, i can select "run in 32bit mode" but sometimes is effective when i open logic and sometimes is not.

I must to open and close three or four time the "get info" window, then one click randomly here and there in the mac windows just to "refres" the finder view and then ( maybe ) i can have my selection effective.

So, now is workaround working but non completely fixed. Thank a lot, if you have any suggestion obviously is much appreciated.

At this point the question is: is this problem maverick related or which the cause is for you? I usually never used a .0 or.1 system but i can't wait for long to take a new hardware. Maybe should i to go for a last year more tested mountain lion machine? ( i'll never used ML, i go rock solid and smooth with snow leopard )

Thanks in advance

hi,

not completely fixed but for sure, i did a big step ahead with the batchmode thing you can see in the solving answer.

The idea is to repair privileges for the entire applications folder with the batchmode application.

In my case, it worked and makes me open less or more every time in the bit-mode i want.

Sometimes happens that i have 64 instead 32 and viceversa. If happens, I go with check, un-check, run- close and re - open to go coehrent with the 32-64 choice.

But before the matchmode, i was'nt able to do nothing with that.

Follow with EXTREME attention the instructions about batchmode. IT can be a risky thing.

hope this helps

i now am having this problem. i realise this when my maverick recently go updated to 10.9.4.

My logic is running at 9.1.8. Sadly i have to use logic 9 due to the plugins i have still in 32bit mode.

and NOW i cant seem to open logic 9.1.8 at all even though i've checked the 32bit box mode.

Tried Batchmode on the logic.app and nothing happens. Tried on applications folder and it happened to fast. It said Done almost immediately.

Am i missing something here?!

Hope i can get help from someone in regards to this. I cant seem to do any work now on my laptop 😟

This was happening on my Macbook Pro and was very frustrating. I tried everything and the only way I could get Logic to work in 32-bit mode was to restore the Logic app from an earlier version that I had in a Time Machine backup from months earlier. I just copied the old version from the backup disk into the applications folder (I also trashed the preferences). It worked for a while, then went back to 64-bit mode. I'm not sure what's causing it. My main studio computer (MacPro) has Mountain Lion and Logic still works fine in 32 bit mode. I'm staying away from Mavericks as long as possible on that computer! Hope this helps.

Firstly......

Logic Pro X does not run in 32 bit mode.....it is a 64 bit app only

Are you running Logic Pro X?

The older Logic Pro 9 can run in 32 and 64 bit mode (Which is what this thread is about..)
