scanning with canon printer MG7150

I have just bought a Canon multifunction printer MG7150. I have an iMac running OS10.9.1. I can print over air-print, but cannot scan wirlessly. I get the error message 'An error occurred while communicating with the scanner.' I have tried turning everything on and off, reinstalling all the software and drivers and reselecting the printer. No luck. Has anyone else had this problem and solved it?

iMac, OS X Mavericks (10.9.1)

Btw mine is MG7160 and I am still using mountain lion , but reading here the problems seem to be the same.

OK so you have a different printer and different OS. Go to ML forum and start a new question for 7160.

Mine works fine on WPA2-PSK type AES+TKIP

I use the Canon utilities that look like below. I have never used Image Capture in my life.

Thanks for suggestions. Been there done that multiple times, .Went through it on the phone and via email with Canon . Found this and the problems were the same as I was having so hoped I might find a solution. End result is alway the same, printing and copying work , scanning doesn't. Also been in for repair , had to set up all over again and still have exactly the same problem. I'm going to give up for a while and use the trusty Lide500f .

I am actually about to throw mine on Ebay, complete with warning to Mac people NOT to buy Haha!!, and buy anything that ISN'T Canon. It is the biggest load of plastic crap I have ever bought. I have seen so many people complain about how difficult it is to set up for Mac and now matter what I did it has never scanned via wifi. Even the things it does do it does very ,very slowly. It doesn't switch off, or come on automatically when I want to print. Although it is supposedly connected, blue light on, every time I try to use it I have to set it all up again. Canon help, just isn't ! 😠It IS the elephant in the room !! 😁 and about the same size.

The Canon service place where it was supposedly repaired didn't have a Mac test it on .😝

Sadly because I upgraded to Maverick, where is my bandwidth going to now ??, I can no longer use my trusty Lide500 😟
