Send text messages directly via PC?

No, you cannot. You will need to explore alternate texting services that offer both an iPhone app and a way of access the service on a PC.

If you are not specifially looking fopr SMS text messages, then pretty much any note taking or text/word processing app in conjunction with a cloud service such as DropBox, or Drop would do. You might want to look into OneNote and SkyDrive since your computer is a Windows machine. This isn't messaging you are looking for for.

Frankly, no, that isn't clear from your post. however, since you have clarified the issue, no. Unless your cellular provider has an application or a web interface that automatically stores and provides access to SMS messages (possible, but doubtful), you are not going to find an SMS solution that accomplishes that.

I think I understand what the poster meant as I am looking for it myself.

What he want is, instead of typing/composing messages though his phone, he will do it directly on the computer and send it, of course it still uses the cellular capabilities of the phone but with less hassle.

This is already been done before by Nokia through their Nokia PC Suite (and do mind, it's not a smartphone era yet), I've tested it before and I'm sure it works and it's possible. Basically what happens is, you connect your phone to your computer through usb/bt on their PC suite and you can open their message center and directly compose messages from there and send. The message of course is still stored in the phone only you didn't compose in your phone.

You can google for send text through nokia pc suite and see what I mean.

Although at this point, I don't have any clues if this is possible in iPhone as I am still looking for myself. So if anyone has an idea on how to do it, please share.

Apple will soon release Mac OS X Yosemite which allows you to do that through the phone itself but not for Windows.

But that may not be necessary. Many mobile operators provide a web portal to send text messages through your account. Why not try that?

This was something that I used to be able to do years ago (around 2010) with my Nokia n8 - there was a window that opened in Nokia Suite (similar to this one I'm typing in) and when you hit send, it went off as an SMS and the message thread was on your phone (as if you'd typed it on your handset). A very useful piece of software to have available as it is so annoying having to tap away when you receive a text whilst sat at the PC. I don't know that Nokia / Microsoft even still have this anymore - I will check it out now I think. But yes, I wish Apple would roll out something similar.

Yep, I could do this ages ago with my old Sony Eriksson phone using the company's free phone suite, with the phone connected by USB. I'm looking, too. The mentioned app, MyPhoneDesktop, available now on the AppStore, claims to do it, but the reviews aren't good, and it's not free. Pity, typing long texts on my 4S is painful.

Don't know if this helps as it doesn't really send through Apple Message, but Verizon allows you to send messages from your PC via your mobile number. Responses show up both on my PC as well as on my iPhone. However, messages I send from my PC to someone on Apple Message show up only on the PC. You sign into the messaging portal with your Verizon account to send via a browser, or there is a free app (Message+) you can download and use without a browser. The Verizon links are provided below. Not sure if your provider offers the same service. Hope it helps!

Has anyone used myphonedesktop app? I'm not finding the answer I need; that is, does it send the message without me pressing any buttons on the phone?

My phone stays in the window upstairs which is the ONLY place in my house it can get a signal. My computer is downstairs. Mightytext became my favorite android app because I could type a message on my computer, wifi sends it to my phone, my phone sends it to the world.

Thank you for this suggestion, however we were hoping for a product that would work from a PC. I checked out the link, and it doesn't (at this time) seem to support a PC, only other iOS devices.
