Wooster33 I had the exact same probalem as it would not uninstall the 'Apple Mobile Device"

I left it there, but unistalled the rest of the apple software as Octacon72 suggested.

restarted my computer and loaded the iTunes Icon as i would normally and everything was there Playlists the lot.

And it Works...!!! Phew.. I was stressing out 20 mins ago. Thought id lost the lot.

THANKS OCTACON72.

Thanks tt2 for replying and for your calm, reassuring tone. It gave me confidence to try and it worked!

Thanks octacon72 for the original solution.

Sidebar but quickly, is anyone using Windows XP and finding it impossible to get updates? I haven't gotten one since October and have been blocked at every turn in my attempts. I think Microsoft has stopped supporting it already!

Great solution from Octacon72 and all the rest of you. I uninstalled all of the Apple programs and Itunes too. Application support would not uninstall, but that was not a problem. I reinstalled Itunes, checked the upgrade other applications box, and now Itunes has been reinstalled OK. No problem with the missing dll, not an issue when you follow the suggested way of Octacon72. All libraries are present and working.

THANK YOU so much!!!
