msvcr80.dll

Downloaded new iTunes version and got a "msvcr80.dll is missing". Reloading, re-installing, nothing helps. Can someone help me with very, very simple instructions? Otherwise I need to wait for the next update on iTunes. Previous version worked just fine.

Windows 7

I followed the instructions which did not mention deleting Bonjour (which I still have installed) and these sorted out the problem for me (i.e. I was able to reinstal iTunes which now seem to be running OK). I have Windows 7. Perhaps it depends on the OS? (In any case, very grateful for this site (and nost certainly hope Apple does not perform a repeat of this mini-disaster again!))

AN APOLOGY IS REQUESTED FROM APPLE!

Have just spent nearly all my Saturday morning and afternoon dealing with this problem on my laptop and Netbook. I am relieved to say that the complete uninstall/reinstall solution did work and it doesn't look as though I lost anything from my Libraries in the process! Nevertheless, I could have done without the problem in the first place!

Since it's clear that this debacle has been caused by a ****-up in the Update download, it would be nice to get an apology from Apple for all the time their loyal customers have wasted sorting the problem out!

i managed to sort mine out due to this post last week. I then tried to update itunes on other pcs & a netbook in the house. They all run windows 7. 1 of my sons worked no problem, the other pc ( same make) and the netbook all had problems and i had to resort again to uninstalling the above.

So there is obviously a problem with some machines and not others. which seems very streange how 1 pc woudl auto update with no problems but the other 3 had different problems.

But again thatnks to this thread i knew exactly what to do

so thanks guys & gals for your help xx

tt2, I have printed the information you identified. I was able to fix the .dll issure (only with your help) on my PC but it seems I have totally lost playslist that were important to my job since last May. Don't mention 'backing up that is a husband issue' it seems since they weren't 'open' when I made the fix they seem to be gone. All of us 'non computer people' can not thank you enough. As another thread said, fixed one and the other 3 computers had no problem, I have only update my Touch - am scared to death to try an update on my phone or IPAD as I don't know what else I will lose. Some music also has vanished. Always something and I have been working on this for almost a week now. Thanks again for you help. 🙂

I followed instructions on apple site referring to the issue (a lot of the instructions were similar to the above). It initiall says to move all the ".dll" files to the desktop, which I did. I did the reinstall and now I dont know what to do with those files on the desktop. Do I delete them, keep them, put them back (except I cant remember which ones came from "program files/iTunes" and which ones came from "program files (x86)" ?? What are .dll files?
