Service Apple Mobile Device failed to start

Hello, I tried to update my iTunes and was given an error message that something was missing. So I have uninstalled my iTunes and now when I try to reinstall it I am getting this message:

Service 'Apple Mobile Device' (Apple Mobile Device) failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient priveleges to start system services.

It then gives me the option to Abort, Retry, or Ignore. Nothing happens when I Retry. When I Ignore it says: iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes. Error 7 (Windows error 126).

I have run out of ideas on what else to try. Please help!

I understand how frustrating it is. It didn't cause me too much trouble this time but I've been through the same kinds of process with different software over the years. 😐

As far as I can tell Apple have released their repair advice. There is no telling how long it will be until a new version will be released or if that will be able to install over a currently corrupted setup.
