MSVCR80.dll is missing
laptop pc-OTHER, Windows 7
Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (Later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
See also HT1925: Removing and Reinstalling iTunes for Windows XP or HT1923: Removing and reinstalling iTunes for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
Should you get the error iTunes.exe - Entry Point Not Found after the above reinstall then copy QTMovieWin.dll from:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support
and paste into:
C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes
The above paths would be for a 64-bit machine. Hopefully the same fix with the " (x86)" omitted would work on 32-bit systems with the same error.

I have same problem. I tried doing the following:
Go into Programs and Features and uninstall:
iTunes
Apple Application Support
Apple Mobile Device Support
Apple Software Update
Reboot. Download a fresh copy of iTunes. Right click on the exe file and select Run as Administrator. Should fix the issue.
I go to the ADD/REMOVE and was able to remove everything except "Apple Mobile Device Support".
It starts to uninstall and then it ROLLS BACK (rolling back action) then quits with box appearing: FATAL ERROR DURING INSTALLATION. I also tried the CHANGE button and tried to remove from there same thing happens I can see the files being deleted; then I get a box saying Apple Mobile Device Support was never installed and then the final box with same message as before FATAL ERROR etc...
Is there another way to remove Apple Mobile Device Support or should I try reinstalling iTunes without removing it? Thanks.
Try pressing on regardless with the rest of the steps. Others have had success.

I had the same problem today. I followed the advice of otacon72 and uninstalled the 4 Apple programs plus Bonjour EXCEPT Apple Mobile Device Support would not uninstall. Someone suggested ignoring it if it wouldn't uninstall, which I did. Then downloaded and ran the new iTunes. It worked perfectly and everything is there. It took about 45 minutes. I rechecked the Apple programs under Programs and Features and the uninstalled programs are there again including a new version of Apple Mobile Device Support which replaced the old one which wouldn't uninstall. So, don't panic. Just follow the advice in this forum and you'll be up and running again.
If you're usinbg the Windows OS, go into Programs & Features and uninstall in this order:
iTunes
Apple Application Support
Bonjour
Apple Mobile Device
Apple Software Update
Then reboot and go to the Apple website to download iTunes 11.1.4 for Windows ---- but make sure you know if your computer is 32 or 64 bit because there are two different iTures software updates with separate downloads for each. Then install, reboot and MSCVR80.dll is back along with the new iTunes update.
Thank you so much. Problem solved and itunes running as normal. Now, how do I get those three hours of my life back?
I had this issue, msvcr80.dll is missing, and fixed it using a system restore point. I got lucky - I had a recent restore available - lucky me. I will create a restore point before updating Itunes ever again. What a pile. Angry about this.
I use Itunes to manage my Ipod touch a simple music player. I find Itunes frustrating and full of crap I don't need and then an update bombs. I will keep my old version for a good long while.
Are you listening Apple or is it 1984 all over again?
I cant remove Bonjour or Mobile device-tried several ways including opening in safe mode-no luck-I'm stuck-can't reinstall
I've revised my advice slightly, try moving on to the next step even if a component won't uninstall...
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.
HT1925: Removing and Reinstalling iTunes for Windows XP
HT1923: Removing and reinstalling iTunes for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
Should you get the error iTunes.exe - Entry Point Not Found after the above then search the computer for copies of the file QTMovieWin.dll - you should only have one copy in the relevant folder for your system.
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support (32-bit Windows)
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support (62-bit Windows)
Delete any others and not only should this fix the problem, but prevent it from recuring on subsequent updates.

I also tried to install the update version of Itunes and had the error, missing msvcr80.dll. I tried uninstalling itunes and downloading Itunes again. However ,it did not resolve the issue. I have a Windows 7 operating system. I finally did a RESTORE to the previous day. This option set the configuration and programs back to the state before the attempt to install the Update. I did a check disk, sfc scan, hard drive test and graphic card test, as well as 3 virus scans on Norton. No issues were found. and so far itunes is working, However, I can't install the updated version successfully.
This happened to me as well. I was updating the latest version and then the installation halted. I restarted my PC and I got msvcr80.dll is missing. I am in the process of uninstalling all Apple programs. Wish me luck!
How To Fix Msvcr80.dll Errors
Important: Do not download msvcr80.dll from a "DLL download" website. There are many reasons why downloading a DLL file is a bad idea. If you need a copy of msvcr80.dll, it's best to obtain it from its original, legitimate source.
Note: Start Windows in Safe Mode to complete any of the following steps if you're unable to access Windows normally due to the msvcr80.dll error.
If, and only if, you're receiving the msvcr80.dll is missing error when you open Apple iTunes, do the following: (skip this step if your msvcr80.dll error is occurring with a different program)
Thanks turingtest2.
I initially followed the steps recommended by the official Apple Support site (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1926http://). I was not successfull because they only recommend that you uninstall iTunes. After reading your post, I went ahead and uninstalled all the related Apple products recommended by you.
It worked.
The problem seems to be widespread and does shatter your confidence in Apple updates.
This solved the problem for me too! Thanks so much for posting!
You're welcome. 🙂
