Not sure if this has been posted in any of the discussions regarding this issue in the forums...

I tried everything suggested, including uninstalling all the components of iTunes in order, rebooting and reinstalling, running as administrator, etc etc but none of these solutions worked.

After spending 5 hours on the phone to Apple support (thanks Angelos - very helpful), we discovered that the corrupt .dll file that was causing the problem was not in the iTunes folder within Program Files, but was in the Common Files folder, in a subfolder called 'Apple'.

By moving all the .dll files from this folder to the desktop, I was finally able to completely remove iTunes and do a clean install. Now everything works fine, finally!

Maybe this fix will be a last resort solution for anyone else for whom all other suggested fixes do not work!

I appreciate your info about how to repair my computer with the msvcr80.dll being missing. I am trying to uninstall/delete all Apple on my computer. However, Bonjour will not uninstall. What if I uninstall Apple Mobile Device? Will my iPhone work afterwards. Another error has now appeared: APSDaemon.exe is missing. I am so tired trying to repair my computer and I'm a cpu dummy. Please advise me. Anyone?

I am still trying to uninstall, but having difficulty. But, if and when I do, is it really necessary to reinstall iTunes? I don't think I want it anymore. Thanks

At some point you'll need it for working with your iPhone, but if that is working normally then you can choose when to spend time on the problem, or wait to see if Apple come out with an easy to use repair tool. If/when you want to try to fix it again my latest advice is at Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.

You need to uninstall ALL components of iTunes, which is 5 programs. If you can't uninstall using the usual uninstall programs procedure in Control panel, then try using Microsoft FixIt to completely uninstall, this might work, you will also need to delete any related folders such as iTunes folder within Program Files on your main hard drive.

There are many discussions on this topic in these forums, including many step-by-step instructions for resolving this issue.
