My iPhone 5s won't turn on or charge

Thank you so very much for the information about pushing both buttons at once to get the phone restarted. My husband was in the hospital and my phone just stopped working with 95% battery and when I realized I couldn't get his calls if he tried to phone me, I lost it. You saved me from a trip to the support store.

My phone is full battery but subddenly it turned off. I tried doing what you post , till now it wont open.

Yes! My iPhone 5S would not turn on either and I followed the directions other people posted and it worked! I was sure the battery WASN'T dead because I still had some charge to it!

Resetting the phone has worked. I'll keep an eye on the phone but thanks for the advice...

Probably about half of people are suffering from the U2 IC chip being damaged on the motherboard and having to either replace that, replace their batteries constantly, or replace their phones. This chip is supposedly damaged from using third party chargers, and monitors the charging of the phone's battery. Unfortunately for these people, simply going to the apple store and replacing the battery will not help. The battery has been replaced 4 times in this phone and nothing has worked. The warranty is void, of course, and apple won't replace it. Just kind of urks me that I have to buy a new phone now if I want to have any sanity left.

I've had mine for a year and a half and this is the first time it's happened. Don't give up on it. Remember that you're seeing a handful of these notes and there are hundreds of thousands of these phones out there.

Yes, this has just happened to me! I am so glad I found this thread - I did the button holding thing and it has come back to life. Just hope it charges up now, but so far so good. I have only had my Iphone 5c a week!

This has worked for me before but this time it isn't. Do you think my phone is completely done?

I hope not. Try plugging it in to the computer it's tied to and let it charge/refresh from there and then try the buttons after a while.

I reset my 5s exactly as suggested and Viola....magic. Solved as suggested....thank you...thank you
