FCP X Lost Projects/Can't See External Hard Drive

Hello,

My External Hard Drive containing my Projects is no longer visible in my Projects Window. The projects are all in their folders on the external HD but of course they no longer appear in the Projects Window since FCP X cannot see the drive. As a test, when I select "import media" FCP X can find the external hard drive so it's reading the drive. It just seems something got "disconnected." I'm not sure what further info you might need to diagnose, but please let me know and i will get it to you. Thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

Success! Tom, when I copied the files from the errant drive, I placed all the files in one folder (Folder A) on a separate drive so that I could keep all the files organized. After I reformatted the drive, I copied Folder A back to the drive but did not take the files out of Folder A. Based on your suggestion, I took all the files out of Folder A and voila! The projects are back. There a couple of small wrinkles which I could live with but i want to mention them since we've come this far. I've included a screen shot which i think might help. First as you can see, two of the projects have missing files. A check of the event library shows what looks like two copies of the same event i.e. "HS Field of Dreams Promo". As you can see, a duplicate seems to exist here which has (fcp1) behind it, and it appears to have all the files in it. Also, if you look at "Holston River" in the project Window, you'll notice no images are there, (only blue frames), but when I selct the file and drag the cursor over it, I can see the footage.
