How do I remove duckduckgo?
1. Open Safari
2. Delete all text from the URL field
3. Click on the little magnifying glass
4. Choose your search engine there
Fore some reason this doesn't work when I do it under Preferences, but it works this way.
Finally the correct answer for those of us that deleted the extension and still see it in the search bar
Brilliant and thank you
Yes ... But you can't delete this DDG pos.
I changed back to Google by going to Safari/preferences/search in El Capitan.
I CAN OPEN EXTENSTIONS AND LOCATE DDG. IT SHOWS THAT DDG IS "INSTALLED" BUT I CAN'T UNINSTALL IT. AM I MISSING A STEP?
@QuickTimeKirk, TY! DDG is uninstalled.
Thanks bud🙂
Click on Safari -> Preferences -> Search -> Click DuckDuckGo and click on Google 🙂
I'm using Firefox and don't see the path suggested here, or close to it. I know these answers are about Safari but couldn't find an answer on Mozilla. Any help here ?
Hi,
I went to the finder but I could find nothing labeled user/home on the left hand side. Can you help me figure it out? I'm trying to get rid of my Duckduckgo extension, too.
Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J. When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder. Select Library.
If that doesn't work for you, in Finder hold down the option/alt key while selecting the Go menu item. Select Library.
Top, removed, very helpful
Thanks
THANK YOU!!!!! I've been trying to get rid of this dumb DuckDuckYuck for so long & it couldn't have been easier with your directions. Now I'm just irritated I didn't find your post sooner! 🙂

THANK YOU BillyK!! After months of trying to find a way to remove duckduckgo as the default search engine, your solution worked like a charm!
I have the same problem - don't see it in the extensions but it still comes up as the default search
