Well from the threads I've seen it seems Thomas got an interest to say so, so that people will use his guide instead...
I can vouch for his contentions so far. I have tested both the original Genieo Uninstaller and all the instructions both he and Linc Davis provided here over the last year or so, as well as his new Adware Removal Tool and Genieo has always come up short. Thomas gives much more than he recieves from this forum. We'll just have to see what comes out of this.
You are certainly welcome to check his list of files against your computer to see if everything is gone.
You got a full list of the files he mentioned?
so I can start checking.
Why not just look at my guide? You seem to think I have some kind of ulterior motives in promoting my site, which I can kind of understand since I recently added a donate button, but the quality of my motives really is irrelevant to the quality of the information. If you want corroboration that the information is good, just search these forums to see how many people have had their problems solved by that guide.
Could you give a link to your guide or a list of the files??
the only thing I saw when I checked in your website was some not up to date information.
In any case, I didn't see any active processes after using Genieo's uninstaller, so it did the job (just tell if you know of any extra files the Genieo uninstaller is not removing)

The link is above, but here it is again Adware Removal Guide : Genieo.
Linc Davis also has a current list of them here.

As far as I know, everything on the site with regard to Genieo was updated within a day of learning any new information. Please let thomas_r. know if you find any out-of-date info.
The list that you'll find includes all the files from both Genieo v1.0 and v2.0, so not all the files will apply to your situation.

So you didn't see the process "Application" running in the background? It may not be now that you've rebooted, but I'm certain it was right after you ran the uninstaller.
I've checked the link you just gave, the files are removed from my Mac.
Also the "Application" process isn't there, it doesn't matter if it was after or before a restart, as long as they got rid of it, can't check now since I've already did a reboot unrelatedly.
The stuff that wasn't updated was some other articles I've found there that was Genieo-related.
Simply use bit defender- 3 easy steps and it is free. They sell antiviral product, I have automatic antiviral from my cable provider , Otherwise i would have bought their product. Support them.
The OP marked the question as solved fifteen months ago, so your are a bit late to the party.
I doubt that you need any antiviral support beyond what OS X provides, but in any case there are better choices that BitDefender and probably much better choices than the junk that comes from cable providers these days.
Anti-virus software is not good for removing adware, or much of anything else for that matter.
