can't delete junk mail

I have one piece of (filthy) junk mail that won't delete, no matter what I do. I keep marking it as unread, then putting it in Trash, then emptying the Trash. But Voila! it keeps coming back. How do I get rid of this???

I was having the same problem and the following worked for me.

1. Open Mail

2. Select mail preferences

3. Select the gmail account

4. Select the tab on mail box behaviors

5. Deselect store junk mail on server

6. Close and save all

Since I did this I have not had the returning of junk emails.

Hope this helps

Open mail app , mail preferences and click on mail box behaviors.

Check the box store junk mails on the server , click on drop down arrows and set as delete the junk mails one week old .

There are different options , one day old , one month old . It yours choice how long you want to keep junk mails on the server .

Once the settings is done close the window , it will prompt to save , or cancel so please click on save .
