Every time I try to print a document, Pages goes unresponsive.

I'm using the latest version of Pages (5.1) on a white MacBook, (unsure of it's official name) with a wireless printer. Every time I try to print a document, (I've tried with multiple) Pages goes unresponsive and refuses to print. I've been able to print my documents from other computers and phone, so it's nothing on the printer's end.

OS X Mavericks (10.9.1)

TG,

When this happens, go to the Dock and click on the Printer icon. In the window that pops up, look for an error message. It may tell you what the problem is. With my printer it may be as simple as a low ink warning.

I have the same issue as TwitterGirl. Pages 5.1 locks up as soon as the "Print" command is selected. I've tried all of the suggestions above even before I found this thread.

Here's a list of other things I've tried, but still did not fix the problem:

-- reinstalled network printer drivers

-- reinstalled Mavericks 10.9.2

-- deleted & reinstalled Pages 5.1

-- logged into Guest account and tried to print

-- restarted computer more times than I care to mention

-- repaired disk permissions

-- tried printing various files

Here's a few things that I've found as work-arounds:

-- export to PDF from the print dialogue, then print through Preview or other PDF viewer

-- turn off wi-fi connection, open print dialogue, select network printer, re-connect wi-fi, and click print (very strange that turning the wi-fi on and off makes a difference, and it prints 😕)

Here's a few things that make this issue puzzling:

-- All other apps will print without any problems, with the exception of Numbers 3.1 it locks up just like Pages 5.1

-- Even Pages 4.3 prints without any problems

Unfortunately, trying to print a different doc. makes no difference; it still goes unresponsive. The Wifi workaround that McDonald mentioned doesn't seem to work for me, either. 😟 Other people on my network, using the same OS and versions of Pages/Mavericks are able to print without a problem, as well as people using different a different OS/version of whatever. My phone is able to print the same documents, on the same wifi, using the same printer.

Aren't issues like these grand? -_-

I finally found a solution! Sorry this problem may have been specific to my situation.

After scouring the internet for solutions, and waiting for Apple to come out with a fix, I came upon a printer driver for the next model up from our copier/printer. After installing it and restarting, everything works like a charm. I'm so happy! 🙂

So, I believe (for me) it was outdated printer drivers all along that were causing several apps to hang or not function properly.

Many in this thread report a printing problem with Pages v5.1. A newer release (v5.2) of Pages is available, and may/may not resolve printing issues not already resolved by printer driver updates. I would also power the printer off (not terribly friendly in an Office setting… especially a Konica/Minolta bizhub unit), shutdown OS X, power on the printer, and then OS X again.

Every time I try to print a document, Pages goes unresponsive.
