If my iPhone 5S is stolen and reset/restored can it still be tracked by find my iphone?

I was wondering that if i loose my iphone IOS 7.0.4 i think, and if the thief restores it, i heard that they wont be able to activate it without my apple ID, which is good but if they connect my iphone to their wifi or put in a sim, will i be able to get the location of where it is connected via the app find my iphone, bear in mind they have reset the phone so the app is deleted?

I did but you need wifi or cellular connection. Undertandable it works somewhat there because it is off by a few 30 feet it seems. Apple needs to update it so find my iphone tracks it with or without a cellular/wifi connection, and have a precise location of where that phone is like law enforcement uses. Another thing would help is that to erase content and settings on the phone... Apple need to add 4 or 5 questions to the option like it needs passcode then fingerprint then you need to fill out questions like where you went to school and other stuff like that, that is in your profile, just to make it harder for the thief to be able to do anything with it. Just adding my 2 cents.

I suggest you to activate Find My iPhone, than log onto your computer and play with all the functions to see how it works.

You can activate a sound on your iPhone as well as send a message from the computer that will apear on the screen. I once forgot my iPhone at the gym and I sent a text with "please don't touch my phone, I'll pick it up tomorrow morning". Also, my iPhone had no pin number and from the computer I activated a pin number in order to access the phone, so they won't read my private stuff...

i recently just found an iphone 5s in the ladies bathroom while i was at a club. i seriously feel like it was luck because i always wanted one but couldn't afford one. i found it without a sim card which I find odd. i was wondering what exactly does that mean? now im aware of plugging it into my computer and if by chance someone has it being tracked it will trace to my house and i dont want that. it seems pretty sketch, i would go to the apple store but im sure they wouldnt believe that i just found it. OR someone just ditched the phone because they didnt have any idea what to do with it. any idea as to what i should do?

You found an iPhone that someone else is missing?

How is that "luck"?

any idea as to what i should do?

Seriously?

You should do the same thing that you would want someone who found an iPhone you lost would do.

Turn it into the club.

Hello all, first time poster.

My iPhone was stolen recently and I put it in lost mode, someone even contacted me (I included an email address in the los message).

That’s good.

I'm just wondering: can erase it trough icloud and still retain lost mode?

Yes.

Also, can I restore abackup to a new phone without erasing the stolen one?

Yes.

But you previously mentioned erasing it.

And you already replaced it?
