The requested URL was not found on this server.

I was just going through my videos and found that about ten of my videos are not accessible. I believe that just a few weeks ago they were still accessible, though I cannot specifically remembering testing that since late December. Their thumbnails are now gray squares with a small "MOV" in the middle, and when I try to play them the first frame of the video is displayed with the play icon, but a message pops up saying "The requested URL was not found on this server." (The option "OK" is below the message.) When I tap the play icon, nothing happens. I cannot figure out why this would happen as none of my photos or videos are stored on iCloud or Photo Stream, so I don't know why URLs or servers would matter. Also, these were taken on my device so I know it's not an issue with the files not syncing correctly from my computer. Does anyone know how I may be able to salvage these randomly, recently corrupted video files? As a side note, I do not regularly sync my device, so restoring a backup is not an option for me, this would cause bigger problems than ten missing videos, probably.

I had a similar problem with both my video and audiobooks on file. Not helpful to have happen just prior to heading out on vacation. To resolve, I did as an earlier poster recommended:

I sync'd both my phone and my iPad -- "unclicking" the box on movies & music to remove all music from the phone and iPad... After the sync was done, and I was assured it (the formerly loaded music and movies) was all wiped, I re-clicked the box on movies & music to re-Install the vid's and tunes, and ran the sync once again, this time putting it all back.

It worked...time consuming, but it worked... Probably some bad coding in the recent iTunes versions.

Hope that helps...

I just tried to back up the pictures and video I had taken with my iphone. After the back up, I got the same message that the requested URL could not be found. It looks like I've lost all my videos. For such an "illustrious" company, this is a pretty significant issue that's clearly not going away. It's pathetic that Apple doesn't appear to be addressing it. I lost all the video from my daughter's first birthday.

Amazing. I can't see or transfer the videos I took during vacations. They're priceless.

The photos all went directly on my iCloud using the wifi. No problem.

However when I go to Image Capture to download the videos, I get the message "Importation error (-9912)"

And when I try to look on the iPhone itself, I have the following screen:

I'm upset that such a simple thing doesn't work on an 800 dollars phone. I had the iPhone 4 and was really hesitating to get the 5 or 5S when I saw the prices. I got an iPhone 5S 32g and now I really really regret it. What a waste of money (and of my videos). Can't believe Apple doesn't address such a huge problem

One more to add, even if user unplug the cable during import of the pictures or videos, the worst case should be, only that 1 picture or video being imported is corrupted. Right now all the rest of the videos are gone for me, that's totally a design flaw in Apple. It's pathetic that they won't come to admit it and fix it.

This reminds me of the time they release the new Apple TV a few years back, and there was a bug shortly after launch, but didn't tell anyone, and then released a fix few days later...

Hi,

thank you for reviving this post,

I have been receving emails when somebody post here, but today I received 3 emails then I knew that there are knew victim of this bug!

Anyway, as you said, if you unplug the cable during the synchronization, you might have a problem on one or two files, not the whole old files.

Well, it is not about the cable, it is about but on the system, because I have transfered any pictures from the pc to the iPhone.

We wish that IOS8 will solve this problem,

Best,

I ran into this error yesterday. It was helpful to find this post and see that it wasn't something I did to get into this state. I was trying to clear off space since my iPhone 5 was saying it was full. I plugged into the computer, opened image capture, and commenced to 'Import All'. The images mostly copied, it left behind 5, but the videos were showing as broken. Same results as others mentioned, error message 'the requested url was not found on this server', broken thumbnail, and size showing 0. Anyway, I was mulling this over all day and when I sat back down tonight to look into it some more, I happened to accidentally double click one of the video icons in Image Capture. It launched in Quicktime and started playing the video. I immediately went to file -> save. In doing so, I discovered there's already a version of the file on my computer, so I looked in Finder and all of my videos were in face transferred off of my phone yesterday, with the pictures, during the Image Capture import. It seems to only be a problem with the videos on my iPhone. I have since deleted the defunct videos off of the iPhone, using the delete option in image capture. It seems too easy that I found the video files on my computer, but I'm hoping others might do a check as well if they used image capture like I did.

same issue happened with me when i was copying photos and videos from my iphone to my computer to free up some space. the videos show 0 byte, when i access them from my pc, while the "url requested was not found" pops when i access them from my iphone after i have noticed they have not been all copied to my pc. As for the photos i lost -or cant access actually- they show the actual size of the photos but the photo views on the computer give an error also (photo viewer doesnt support file format) plus they dont appear properly on the iphone (low definition pics, and they cant be sent or used).

i still have the IOS 5 on it and i dont believe updating it will resolve this problem.

have anyone reached a solution? please help, it is extremely annoying!

Same thing here starting just last week. iPhone 4s. Has taken thousands of videos perfectly fine for a loooonng time. All the sudden I get the following error like all the rest, along with my videos not playing. One wrinkle I can add to the discussion is that the video microphone (next to the headphone jack) is no longer working. I noticed both problems around the same time. I now must have headphones with a mic plugged in, in order to record audio.
