battery drain on 7.0.6

Since I upgraded to 7.0.6 my battery drains at an alarming rate. Since 8:00 this morning I have made one call and checked email - the battery is now 51% after 2 hours! This was fine before the update.

I have cloased all apps - still have exactly the same issue. Phone gets hot now when screen is on suggestiig the processor is doing a lot of work.

Is it possible to downgrade back to 7.0.4 (I was on 7.0.4 before the update)?

Sorry all,

I'm glad that you all have replied with your years of experience with Apple phones and tablets. Obviously, without having the 4 and 4s, I'm ignorant to the EXCESSIVE drain. I just know that I'm always annoyed with the continuously INCREASING battery drain of a two year old iPhone and can't wait for the next one to come out. I DO agree that they need to do something if this OS update is EGREGIOUSLY draining batteries. There is always inherent drain whenever new iOS come out. I actually do bellieve that Apple and other companies knowingly make these updates use more battery life so they can move their product. But from all these reports, this drain sounds like it's quite excessive and a gaffe by Apple that they are not yet willing to admit to.

The whole iPad thing is also inexcusable because I don't think anybody has the "new every two" option on iPads. They are too expensive to update that often.

I guess it's never an issue with me with my iPhones because with every upgrade I make a PROFIT by selling my 2-year-old phone on ebay for 50% greater than what I pay for my latest edition iPhone (with my new-every-two AT&T contract). I sold my 4s for $300 and some change right when the 5s came out and bought the 5s for $200 and some change = 50% profit. BUT, I was only experiencing the NORMAL increased drain with my 4s when iOS 7.0 came out.

I have purchased 5s two day before and updated to ios 7.0.6. I have also getting the same problem of battery drainup. After taking to online services of Apple I have reset my phone but problem is still there. I also tried what you said by putting carrier on manual mode, but problem is still persisting. I have also ipad2 but same problem is not seen there.

I think it's the worst update ever provided by Apple.

I requested Apple to solve this problem at the earliest so that at least we can achieve battery life upto as mentioned in there specification.

I have been to the Apple Store again and told them that my iPhone is even loosing battery when it is completley switched off. This was the indicator for me that something with the hardware must be wrong. Because if iOS is not running it cannot be the cause for the battery drain.

So I got a replacement for my iPhone 5. Unfortunately it was already out of the warranty so I had to pay 249€. 😟

Tonight I performed the battery test again. Charged the new iPhone 5 running with iOS 7.0.6 to 100% turned on the flight mode and pulled the cable from the charger.

This morning after 8 hours of standby in flight mode I took a look at the battery. And TADA! it was still at 100%.

So for me at was defintley a hardware problem.

for me the problem was solved with manual carrier mode, but I think there is some kind of bug with mail app like someone said, try to disable mail totaly and then full charge your phone and then test it.if the problem still there I think it is hardware problem! How old is your phone?I keep my mail account disable and my battery is rebirth.Do you lost battery when the phone is in sleep mode?

Tried all the suggestions as mentioned here but didn't fix my battery drain problem. Finally i tried this and it fixed the battery issue. Charged my phone with IOS 7.0.6 to 100% and this morning after 9 hours my battery shows 98% .

Fix:

Go to Settings -> Select Calender -> Disable Show in Notification center (Retain all other values) .

Note : You will still recieve reminders from the calender

Restart the device.. Will fix the battery drain issue.

it seem to be that only few phones are drain battery and get hot with 7.0.6 and I wrote my method that solved my problem with drain,ok try this.... close all applications with multitasking gesture, hold home and power button together until phone reboot, when you see apple logo let go buttons and let it boot normal...then try all three method that seem to help on different phones...disable mail account,in carrier section disable automatic search carrier and use manual and go to notification center and disable calendar to show in notification bar..and it is normal to phone go warm when you play a game but a little warm..if is hot very hot that is not normal
