battery drain on 7.0.6

Since I upgraded to 7.0.6 my battery drains at an alarming rate. Since 8:00 this morning I have made one call and checked email - the battery is now 51% after 2 hours! This was fine before the update.

I have cloased all apps - still have exactly the same issue. Phone gets hot now when screen is on suggestiig the processor is doing a lot of work.

Is it possible to downgrade back to 7.0.4 (I was on 7.0.4 before the update)?

I've tried different chargers and there is no difference. The chargers work fine as long as the phone is in a better cellular signal area. The crazy battery drain is very unpredictable. It seems that in strong cellular signal areas the battery acts normal. Other times it is totally bizzare, draining very rapidly in circumstances that it would behave normally until 7.0.6.

I have done all the resets and iTunes restore as it has been suggested to no avail. My phone is under warranty but the closest Apple store is an hour 15 minutes away, and I'm reluctant to drive there only to be told that no problem exists.

So, my plan is to wait for IOS 7.1 which should be released very shortly (before 3/11/14) and see if the problem is resolved. If not, I'll make the appointment with the Apple store and come armed with the screen shots showing the battery drain while on the charger. Since they show the fact that it's on a charger, the charge percentage and the time, I think they make a pretty strong case for something being very wrong.

To skirla1987,

You seem to be suggesting that you have found the solution to the battery drain issue that many Apple consumers are dealing with since they updated to iOS 7.0.6. While what you proposed may have worked for you and some others, it is not a working solution for the majority.

For example, my battery drain problem (after updating) is with an non-cellular iPad 3...not an iPhone. I had already tried some of the tasks you suggested and then some. It did not work.

Respectfully, your ideas were suggested by others before you, so please stop campaigning your idea and accusing people of failing to read, as though you have solved the great riddle and everyone just needs to listen to you. The real solution will be through a new update where Apple fixes the problem that they created.

you are wrong, not many but few consumers, they sell a billion phones and you say many have problem,if many have problem with drain then this forum would be full of consumers with problem! So did I force you to listen to me,first of all if you have a problem and someone solution is not workin for you the you write that is not worked for you not acousing someone and maybe you jellouse because you didnt find the fix for battery drain :D and I did and you can read that my method with carrier is helped a few consumers,in meanwile when you wait for 7.1 you cant just watch your iPad how beautiful it is :D and you are rude :P

The battery drain problem with IOS 7.0.6 is all over the Internet. I think the response on this thread is pretty active, also.

Let's keep this civil. I believe you when you say you solved your problem. Please give the ones for whom the suggested remedies didn't work the same credibility and respect. It's not an issue of jealousy; it a statement of reality. Because you no longer have a problem does not mean that a problem does not exist. Apple has been down this road many times with issues they claim do not exist. These "non-existent" issues then magically disappear with a firmware update or a hardware modification.

I'm glad I found this thread (and others on the 'net) because after I updated to 7.0.6 several days ago (I have a 5s) I've been just shocked at how fast my battery drains now and, even stranger, how frequently hot it gets. I had zero issues prior to this upgrade and I'm gobsmacked how this supposedly "simple" upgrade has just radically changed my battery performance.

First off, I'm an extraordinarily conservative iPhone user...meaning I turn off anything and everything that can drain the battery. Second, I've tried most of the suggestions that have been made on this forum thread to no avail. Lastly, I must conclude that Apple needs to remedy this ASAP. I made one 3 minute call today and checked email 4 times (and not responding or downloading anything) and my battery went from 100% to 78% with very limited activity. Under normal circumstances (meaning, with my prior ios version), my battery would have not dipped below 90%.

And, I can't even begin to explain why my phone is getting so hot so frequently when I'm always closing out apps completely and I haven't even played any games since the upgrade. Frankly, I'm discouraged and I wish there was a "magic fix", but those that have suggested "fixes" haven't worked for me yet.

this morning, less than 3 hours after I unplugged my fully charged iPhone 5 and disabled airplane mode, battery went from 100% to less than 70%. I'd made zero phone calls in that period, and only checked email a few times and checked twitter for a couple minutes. Before 7.0.6 I would never see this big a drop until after much longer time had passed, maybe only towards the late afternoon.

after about 8 hours into the day, still with zero voice calls and only checking emails a few more times since morning, the phone mostly in my pocket all day, the battery was down to 40%.

Before 7.0.6 I would normally NEVER ever see the low battery warning (20%) even late in the evening before bed (I recharge fully overnight every night). Now with 7.0.6 it's a daily low battery warning well before the late evening news, even with quite low usage through the day. Today battery dropped to 1% before 11pm. No voice calls at all today, only moderate use of email and web/data access.

Something definitely changed with the update that is consuming more power even when the phone is not being heavily used. I sure hope 7.1 addresses this problem.

My wife and I still have the battery drain problem since 7.0.6 on our iPhone 4S which did not occur with iOS7.0.4. and we tried quite some things (see below) already but they did not help in resolving this battery drain issue. It also is indicated at 'Settings' > 'Use' > 'Time since last100% battery' that Use and Stand-by time are the same.

# Normally turn of iPhone by using power button

# Remove all open apps bij pressing the Home button twice en slide all oustanding apps away and then press 'Home' + 'Power' button for 10 seconds

# We do not use Hotmail/Outlook accounts in our mail app but we did remove all existing mail accounts from our mail app restarted our iPhones and then added the mail accounts again.

# Calendar indication in the notification center is turned off (saw a tip mentioned in another topic and on Youtube.

# Brightness is set to approximately 40/50%

# We only use WIFI (at work, home and at friends/family). 3G and Bluetooth are turned off.

# We didn't on 7.0.4. and still don't use background apps (Refresh apps on background). Its completely turned off

# Privacy > Location tracking > Only Maps, Google Maps are allowed to use location tracking

# Network selection is set to 'manual' instead of the standard automatic.

# E-mail is fetched once an hour

# Siri is turned off

# I already tried to ran 'recover network settings' and 'recover all settings' but this also didn't help

# Drain battery completely to 0% and wait for 30 minutes and then charged the iPhones again but didn't help either

I hope that iOS7.1 will fix this battery drain. I hope it will be released ASAP. If someone has another solution then please let us know.

Hi pacorob, did everything u mentioned even I restored my phone twice with no joy, I think thier is no solution to the battery drain except and only if apple does something, or probably in thier next update ios7.1 we might be lucky if thier will be a fix to the battery issue, I've got the 5s the iPad and both are have the battery drain... The funny thing is that apple is not addressing the issue, very bad of them infact I've given up only hoping that the issue will be solved quickly, ios 7.0.4 and 7.0.5 did not have this problem if only I knew I would not have updated to this useless update. You can imagine just to type this message my battery went down from 88 to 80%
