Multiple display problem in OSX 10.9.2

I just updated to 10.9.2 on my 15" Macbook Pro (Mid-2010) and after the restart my secondary display will not work. When I plug it in to my mini displayport my secondary display comes up black and my primary display comes back with the background and settings that I had set for my secondary display. It seems as though the OS was confusing my primary display for my secondary. After messing with the settings I was able to get my primary display back to my primary settings, but the secondary display is still showing up black no matter how much I mess with the display settings in the system preferences (changes to resolution, mirroring, ect.). Anyone else experiencing this?

Nearly the same here. I've an external display connected to my private iMac via mini displayport respectively two external thunderbolt displays connected to my iMac for work. Before the update to 10.9.2 everything worked fine, afterwards the screen turns from black to the normal display to black and so on, it's flickering every time I do something, open up an app, repositioning a window from one display to another, switch to fullscreen. This totally *****, as an Developer and UI designer I'm depend on two respectively three displays o.O

Had same issues where my second monitor was not working correctly. Tried all the usual stuff: zap the power button, pram, safe boot, fix permissions none of which worked. Then low and behold tried unchecking "displays have separate spaces" option within mission control and Bada Bing all is good!

One click away!!!

Got an email from Apple indicating that this issue is now fixed in Yosemite. As there seem to be several variants of this problem, is there anyone

>> who has been using the Amaga hack <<

that can confirm that Yosemite corrects the issue?

I'd rather not try another "upgrade" which may break "the Amaga hack" unless someone can confirm it works.

(Not having extreme faith in Apple at the moment.)

I have a Mac Mini connected to an LG 32" monitor, using an HDMI to Thunderbolt connection. My second display is an iMac 2014 connected Thunderbolt to Thunderbolt. I restarted the Mac Mini a couple of days ago and the iMac I'm using as the second display would only display black when using the keyboard assignment, Command/F2 to activate the screen. I reset SMCs, reset the PRAM, switched connections and read every related thread I could find to no avail. I then tried disconnecting my external hard drives. After restart with no external devices connected–Boom! The iMac screen was back with Command/F2. I then re-plugged my outboard USB devices and everything is back to normal.

I am STILL having this issue with my 2016 Macbook Pro with Touchbar. I have 2 32" 4k screens and it takes several minutes of trying plugging them in, unplugging, plugging in different orders, etc. before the actually WORK.

THIS IS RIDICULOUS. I spend 10-15min a day just getting this $4k laptop to work properly. Fix these bugs! Real professionals are tired of these kind of issues!
