iBooks Author "Enable As Hyperlink" Greyed Out

I've been trolling the forums with no success.

Am trying to link some text within a table to other pages within the book but the Enable As Hyperlink option is totally greyed out.

I can't add anything to Bookmarks either.

The cross referencing within my books is absolutely necessary as it's a tactical guide with over 110 pages.

I've also tried the Format>Advanced>Un-check Define As Placeholder Text as well

What am I missing??

Any help in this would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance! 😀

1) I'm creating a cookbook / guide so the images are only within the chapter/section and pages.

2) Your solution earlier on how to create hyperlinks definitely works through those hacks.

Question: How do you link from the Table of Contents to the relevant recipe/page without going through the hacks?

If I do that then it would not change the TOC if I decide to rename some chapters/pages. This would be a nightmare to keep track of and is not a scalable solution for books that have multiple chapters / sections and pages (which most do)

Any ideas?

Interesting perspective. (I've only been on a Mac for 2 years).

It's such a pity coz what Apple releases is always so good looking but it seems to lack very basic functionality ---ie. linking within internal pages. Surely that's not hard to imagine someone would need that functionality in a book.

The process itself while doable (within a limited scope), it's also very complicated and indirect.
