Hello Gerard and others. I never use Airparrot before. Previously, my Macbook (Macbook pro early 2011) 10.9.1 doing fine with Airplay . After done with the updates (10.9.2) everything went wrong with Airplay (i cant even play a video with it). Please help me guys...
I removed Air Parrot and I uninstalled Air Display. Mirroring worked after removing Air Display.
How did you uninstall AirPlay - people need to know.
Solution:
Ran the Air Display uninstaller that I found by searching in spotlight.
Ran the Air Parrot removal tool & confirmed that the files were deleted based on instructions from their website.
I never installed Air Parrot so how do you want us to uninstall it?
Please read the entire thread. You'll see what worked for me.
You was right. This works for some reason. I had Air Parrot trial two years ago on mountain lion but never on Maverick. After runnig this uninstall software and restarting Mac everything is working fine. This is amazing. Thank you for your help.
imac 2012 21 inch, my experience, my problem from the virtual display driver of splashtop streamer, uninstall the driver from the app perference panel, restart the machine and the 10.9.2 airplay mirroring back to work. hope this will help someone who had never used airparrot before.
So has this been resolved?? Does 10.9.2 still break AirPlay over Apple TV??
No - it has not been resolved. There have been some suggested fixes that involve Air Parriott -- but there has not been an update from Apple -- which is what it will take to solve this issue...
WOW. I am just so upset and disappointed with Apple. I have been one of the "old school" Apple fans for as long as i can remember ... well over 15 years ... Back when no-one believed in them .... I always fought for them ... blah blah blah ... im sure you know the story if you are also a long term Apple user ..... I cant help but think that these days things just arent the same .... I fear Apple is turing into another Microsoft and companies like Google are moving ahead of the curve .... Granted, Android devices just dont even come close to comparing to the performance and user experience you find on an Apple device ... simple things like scrolling a webpage are just horrible on an android device .... but i would also assume it is just a matter of time for those hardware developers and google to "get it right" — I just hope apple realizes that they seem to be falling off the waste side in a lot of areas .... the fact that this bug has been allowed to exist for this long is a red flag as far as im concerned. Sad Mac in this corner.
That is a crock if I must say. You picked the wrong thread to unleash a most unhelpful rant. According to my observations, there are so many 3rd party possible conflicts to break airplay that you possibly can't blame Apple. Just in my case, it was Airparrot. In others, it is video settings that conflicted. If you take a virgin Maverick system and test it, I bet it will work as advertised. Who knows what you did to your system? No one knows what OS you are running, hardware, etc...
If you want help I suggest you state your problem and not your global and surreal painful issues which have nothing to do with what we are trying to fix.
Gerard, justneed2fly makes a very valid point.
What changed between the system working and not working? So far it seems the only change was installing mavericks (apple). Removal of 3rd party apps seem to help it. The app developers can't forsee apple bring out a small incremental update that breaks the interface to other apple hardware. Apple should at least know where the interface breaks.
I was very surprised not to see any mention of this issue in further OSX updates.
Your average user may find it hard to diagnose the issue and get the problem resolved.
Completely agree with you dinkola! I have never had any of the third-party apps that people have tweaked with to get AirPlay working again -- Other than having an Apple Developer account or paying $ to talk to Apple about the problem they created with this update, there are no alternatives (that I know of or can think of)... I extensively use AirPlay from my MBP -- it has been working great for as long as I can remember -- as soon as the update was installed, it completely disappears -- no devices -- no Apple TV -- no Airport Express! It's Apple's fault for breaking it! They need to fix it ASAP - 'nuff said!
Im not looking to bash apple here. As for the problem, i have not even installed the Update yet — I have been waiting for a fix.
The reason i was so upset is that Apple is calling this update "Critical" — I get a notification daily — in the meantime, im a developer that depends on the Apple TV extended desktop to work properly. So what do i do? There are no Apple tech employees on these forums and Apple now CHARGES for support. So i have no choice but to wait until its absolutely clear that the bug has been addressed. In the meantime, i have to assume my computer is at risk due to the massive security hole the update addresses.
