GPS Arrow Location services

That feature was added with 7.0. I shut off background refresh on the affected apps, but it still seems to be something that shouldn't happen. Constant pulling of the GPS is different in my mind than updating the app content. If it was occasional GPS updates, it would be fine. The first 4-5 hours I had 7.1 installed, though, it was constant.

Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new). Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.

Foursquare is the culprit for me

You can turn off location services for Foursquare in Settings -> Privacy -> Location Services

Hope they fix it soon

Make sure that your apps are updated. I use FourSquare daily and have not had issues with it in over a year.

Finally it resolved for me ... I switched of the background refresh of google app... GPS arrow turned off

Location Reporting was turned off in my Google app so it's not specific to any one app I guess. It's iOS 7.1 with certain apps that are the issue.

That is moronic! I force close apps specifically BECAUSE I don't want them running in the background and eating up my battery!

Don't use the apps that need constant location awareness. Problem solved.

This issue is eating my battery faster on my 5S.

I had to take out location access to Google, Apple Store and Moves apps.

This started happening after upgrading to 7.1

I now am able can to start an app that uses location information and as soon as I force close it the arrow will disappear again just like before on my iPhone

All else failed. This worked for me! Thanks.

My problem was with Passbook. After I reset the location settings, Passbook asked to turn location settings on.

I found it was Siri and Pogoplug.

Resolved by removing location service from Cineplex app
