Touch ID doesn't work after iOS 7.1 Update

After installing iOS 7.1 Touch ID stopped working. When I put my finger on the sensor nothing happens.

I already tried rebooting and switching Touch ID on and off. None of that seemed to work. Is there anyone else experiencing similar problems?

Update: Right now I'm trying to set up a new fingerbrint but it doesnt even start scanning when I put my finger on. It just doesnt do anything. I have a feeling that the sensor might be broken...

Hear `ya man!

I remember me telling my customers that Apple might not be as feature rich as others, but was the most reliable mobile OS. Lately I am really having trouble to convince people of that. One of my most important customers made the decision to go for Android for its employees devices (about 8000 units). Not that Android would be better than iOS, but at least we have the opportunity to fix the issues the OS has and use that branch instead.

With iOS people dont have nothing, not even the chance to dongrade to a more reliable state of the OS. Oh yeah, iOS7 is adopted by 90% of all Apple devices.... sure, because the average user doesn`t have the chance to downgrade again. This might not affect me as a developer, but I am thinking of i.e. my mom which didnt even know devices like this existed before I gave one to her.

Time to replace the phone, which Apple will do for free.

Do you have static electric problems around the house?

When waking up now I try and be careful to touch the frame before touching the button for fear that static sparks are burning out the ring sensor. The actual finger print scanner always works once the ring sensor has detected my touch, but the ring sensor burned out and so it never scanned. It never said the finger scan failed because it never started.
