Touch ID doesn't work after iOS 7.1 Update

After installing iOS 7.1 Touch ID stopped working. When I put my finger on the sensor nothing happens.

I already tried rebooting and switching Touch ID on and off. None of that seemed to work. Is there anyone else experiencing similar problems?

Update: Right now I'm trying to set up a new fingerbrint but it doesnt even start scanning when I put my finger on. It just doesnt do anything. I have a feeling that the sensor might be broken...

1.) Make sure your Home button any fingers you wish to enroll are clean and dry.

2.) Force quite all of your open apps and restart your iPhone by holding down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time.

3.) After the restart, go to Settings > Touch ID & Passcode and enter your passcode.

4.) Scroll down and delete any existing fingerprints saved on your 5S.

5.) Tap Add a Fingerprint.

6.) To get a proper reading, hold your iPhone as you would normally touch your home button.

7.) Repeat for any fingers you have previously scanned.

I got my iPhone 5s in July 2014. It runs 7.1.2. Touch ID doesn't work. In a slight variant of what others have written about the utter failure of Apple to make this option work, on my phone, after I delete fingers, and re-enter them again, Touch ID usually works once or twice. After working a couple of times, Touch ID stops working. It never even gives me a chance to enter the touch, it insists on passcode immediately after pressing home button to wake it up. This happens after the phone has gone to sleep for 10 hours, 10 minutes, or 10 seconds.
