New Apple TV update loses wifi connection, just like the last major update! Doesn't Apple check this out before putting it out

It seems that the issue of my Apple TV is a hardware problem. I call Apple and they said my Apple TV is eligible to a replacement. To see if your model is eligible too, check this post from the Mac Rumors:

My Apple TV's serial number is not covered, it seems. But do let us know if a new unit fixes it. I may call Apple and speak with them anyway just to check whether they'll replace it. But I'd rather not mess about with getting a replacement if it will only have the same problem. I'm convinced that this is a software problem, as my unit worked flawlessly until I updated to 6.1.

I experience the exact same problem since the last update was installed. Apple TV keeps dropping the wireless connection for a few seconds. I have a solid wlan on the 5 GHz band. There is no other 5Ghz network in range of mine. I have scanned my environment using inSSIDer and everything looks good. I done the scan several times. The scans before the update looks as good as the ones done after the update. In other words nothing on my Wlan has changed.

Have you tried changing frequencies? Have you tried ethernet? What are the results of the report?

I started to have the same problem when I changed my modem. The IP address on the ATV disappeared frequently and in random intervals, and then reappeared after one or two seconds. I tried whatever I could find in the internet. In one post the band width was suggested to be set on 40 MHz instead of 20. My new modem did not have "40 MHz", but "20/40 MHz auto". Setting the band width to it was not any good. I changed my modem to the previous one. The apple TV wifi problem was solved. When I checked the settings, I found that the old modem had been set to 40 MHz.

So I suggest you guys to check this quick tip, maybe it helps.

Thank you the answers fixed my issue! After i changed the WIFI connection to WPA AES my Apple TV was streaming all videos till the end without any interruption!

This actually resolved my issue too, using WPA2 + AES instead of WPA2 + TKIP. The Apple TV rarely loses connection now. I am curious to find out why at some point.
