iOS 7.1 Personal Hotspot APN settings won't save on iPhone 4

Hello,

I am facing a problem, which would be great to resolve. Since I updated to iOS 7.1 I can't set APN setttings for Personal Hotspot in my iPhone. If I go to Settings -> Cellular -> Cellular Data Settings, and I set the APNs(for data+mms) and i go back to save the freshly set APN settings then it saves, but if I touch any fields in the "Personal Hotspot" section (even focusing) and I go back the same way any changed value won't save (e.g. I also change data APN). In the menu "Cellular" there is an option for personal tethering where it just keeps loading and after a ehile it becomes an available option, but if I click on it it displays an error message like: "...contact: Carrier". So I tried everything, I reset my network settings, did 3 full restore(via iTunes, in recovery mode and DFU too). Then finally I downgraded to iOS 6.1.2 and guess what, it started working.. Then I thought it repaired some settings bug which burned in my device and I restored 7.1 in DFU. Now it is not working again. I need the help of community since I need hotspot tethering so hard everyday for my job. Thanks in advance!

The same situation, even the same iPhone 4 - one carrier, two different phones! (Life;), Ukraine). And my (MTC a Ukraine) doesn't work:(. The carrier officially doesn't support Apple devices, BUT sells iPads with 3G internet....Apple really had to support their users. Anyway, why they released 7.1 to return iPhone's 4 for life and took away one of its essential feature?????

I have just been talking to the Apple support team in Belgium for half an hour. They confirmed that there is a "ticket" open within apple for the investigation of the problem, but at the present time they have not found the problem.

I have been promised a further update on the issue on Saturday 05/03/2014.

From the conversation it sounded like this is a "Bug" and not a design change - so Guys n Gals hold on a little longer, there is a small light at the end of the tunnel.

Same problem with Base in Belgium. The Personal Hotspot APN settings refuse to save.

Also, I cannot configure the Voicemail button with Base's number +32486191933. This feature is blocked.

Last but not least, Apple block my 4G/LTE as I am not with their partner provider Mobistar.

I've had enough of Apple and their over-controling attitudes. This will by my last iPhone.

Not that i don't believe you Tony-2010, but i called the apple care service 3 times, everytime the apple care people connected me trough to their supervisor cause 'they' couldn't help me. Yesterday i had the 3 different supervisor and he told me, just like the other 2 that i was the first to talk about this specific problem to them. I find it rather strange that apple care told you there was a ticket made, cause neither one of the supervisors had ever heard of the problem.

Apart from that neither of the 3 supervisors ever gave me the feeling they were taking the problem seriouesly, nor did they confirm me EVER that it was a bug. The cycled around the topic stating that the issue was with the carrier, that the carrier should update it's settings and so on but never i heard the word: it's a bug and it's our fault.

One thing is for sure in my opinion, they are fogging the entire issue so nobody can follow anymore.

Please do communicate on the further update of the ticket they made and please prove me wrong!

Anyway Dr Leiter is right in stating that if the personal hotspot will work again 4g won't cause they block that anyway.

I cannot support a company that does suchs things, anymore, anyway....

Same with me. iPhone 4, latest IOS update. Since then personal hotspot is no longer working. I am ePlus customer.

If they dont solve the issue, my next mobile will be a windows 8 ... hehehe, maybe that creates panik at apple :-)

come on apple, i paid 5000 € for apple products in the last 2 years, you dont want to loose this kind of customers because of such a ********.

Dr Leiter, I totally disagree with you. Your reasoning is focusing the blame on the users, which is wrong.

Apple is to blame for releasing software with bugs, creating problems for the users, not making an official statement, not assuming they are creating a problem where there was none before, not warning the users about policy changes (if this is really a change in personal hotspot policy) and not solving the bugs in a reasonable time.
