In the end my iPhone was resurrected after every iOS update by hair drying it! And so it was used for 2 years extra.

And then the ultimate revenge: Apple's Reuse and Recycling programme

Since everything was in perfect shape and they didn't ask if wifi was working, I got € 75,- for it.

Dear Merlot08,

This answer has been given within this topic multiple times.

I like to point out 2 things:

- after the heating, the button is very, very hot. So use some protection when turning the phone off.

- I would turn the phone off, wait 30 minutes (not real need to put in freezer or anything like that), and then turn it on again. Wifi should work again, often till next system update.
