Iphone 5s battery drains fast after ios 7.1 update.

Am I the only one who seems to be experiencing this? My iphone 5S battery seem to drain much faster than usual, and charge longer. I heard that the new update is supposed to increase battery life, and read comparison threads regarding other iphones that are capable of a much better battery life than mine.

I've had my phone for 3 months, never have dropped it once or anything of the sort, if that matters. My battery drains to 50% within an hour or so after intense use on the lowest level of brightness, and I seem to lose about 5-7 percents when on standby for 5 hours or so. Is this normal? Is it perhaps due to the fact that I am mostly using 3g, and applications that require more processing such as tumblr (graphics and gifs) as well safari? I'm just worried that my battery may be draining to quick, despite the update which's supposed to make it much better according to many people.

Thanks.

My iphone 5s battery also drains fast after ios 7.1 update. Before the update I get 24hrs moderate to heavy use. But now I only get 12 hours! During the update I noticed that my battery is draining at an unusual pace. I thought that it could be due to the ongoing update. My battery was 100% full before the update. After the update (5 hrs) it went down to 50%. Then I just used my wifi for no less than 1 hour then it went down to 30%! It's insane! This is unusual for me because I would normally spend 2 hours using wifi causing my battery to go down 20%. I tried hard resetting my iphone but battery issue is still the same. Please take note that I've already disabled location, background refresh, autoupdate and other settings that may cause low battery performance.

The same happened to my IP5s after the update. I'd turn off the 4g, the location services, the background app refresh, reduce the motion and tranparency options, the mail push up and the brightness to the lower level, but the battery still draining fast. Before the update i'd could fully charge my phone at night from 20h to 21h, then i'd could unplug it from the charger and put the phone in standy mode the whole night, in the morning at 6am the battery indicator was still in 100%, yesterday i did the same but today at 6am showed me only 94%!

why why apple are you doing this to us your loyalty customers?

My iPhone 5S has been draining like crazy since the iOS 7.1 Update. This morning I woke up at 8:30, my phone was at 100%. It's now 10:40 and my phone is at 85%. It should be around 94% because it doesn't drain that fast when I had the iOS 7.0.6. This really needs to be fixed because I'm on my phone basically all day & we don't want to have to charge all the time. Please fix the battery draining. Has anyone called apple or emailed them regarding that the battery drain issue needs to be fixed?

Have you tried checking if you have background apps running that is affecting the battery life?

One thing I have noticed with 7.1 is the fix for the location service issue for apps, if you use Reminders with location-based alerts or run apps such as Nike+ Move, these will now utilise the location service even if they are not running in the background but have been activated to use the location service, hence becoming a huge drain on battery life.

I have the same problem on iPhone 5 after iOS 7.1 update. I just charged the battery to 60% an hour ago but now the % is 36%. Check with my Battery app and saw the memory allocation is more than 90%!!

Before update to 7.1, the max memory allocation is less than 70%

I had always on my bluetooth, wifi and never gotten that bad.

There is a bug again....

Same exact problem here too. Currently have an iPhone 5s and the battery life is beyond ridiculous. Not sure if anyone else is experiencing this too, but mine will constantly restart througout the day. No rhyme or reason for the restart. Also, the camera app will hang about 50% of the time where the entire phone becomes unresponsive. Only way to regain functionality is to manually reset the phone and wait for it to come back on. This is completely terrible!

Me too.

I went from plugging in to charge at the end of the night, around 11pm, to barely getting through a workday with very light use. With less than 10 hrs of standby and maybe 30 minutes with the screen even on I am rocking 15% battery life. I'm also connected to wifi whenever at home or in the office, which accounts for over 9 hours of the standby time.

I know people are suggesting turn off features... but eff that, 5 days ago I'd get through an entire day without any issue, under much heavier useage. I don't want to have to turn on bluetooth everytime I get in my car and back off when I get out, I just want it to work when I turn the car on... I don't want to manually check for emails, I want it to tell me when an email comes.

I noticed that location based reminders appeared to be working (I tested it just in case Apple had fixed them). I'm glad you posted this comment as it's what brought me to this forum. I "Googled" the issue to see if anyone else had noticed it was fixed.

I made a comment below about how I fixed the battery drain after the iOS 7.1 update. My location reminders are all, plus many apps that use background services and I'm getting ample battery life.

Good luck!
